Board Rules

Dear Members & Visitors –
Please find the new rules and policies below for our boards. We have made some changes in hopes to make your experience here more enjoyable. I have changed some of the board settings and implemented new board rules and policies for a less restrictive forum experience and our new moderating staff has specific guidelines to facilitate open discussions while protecting the integrity of the board. I am doing this after receiving feedback from our members, advice from other forum webmasters, and in consideration of my own personal hopes to grow the site. As always, it is still considered poor board etiquette to post messages about the site or board moderation. Please refrain from posting comments about moderators, past and present. With that said, I welcome your suggestions. Please direct these comments to me via personal message. One of the changes you'll notice is the warning status bar in your profile. You can only view your own warning status bar. In the past, moderators could only view these. I have reset everyone’s warning level to zero and I have lifted all moderator preview restrictions. This will give everyone a fair shot at following the new rules. If for some reason your account is still restricted, please send me a PM. As a courtesy, I am asking anyone who is a member of Facebook to click the LIKE button below and help spread the word. We are getting a lot of new traffic from Facebook, and this will help us reach a wider audience. Also - please feel tell your friends in the airline business about our changes in policy. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to drop me a line via PM.
Regards,
Kevin (Board Admin)

Board Rules

Considering the real-time nature of the AirlineForums.com Message Boards, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted.

Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of AirlineForums.com or any entity associated with AirlineForums.com. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by using the REPORT feature that is visible to members and is located under every post.

We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the AirlineForums.com Message Boards to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by AirlineForums.com.

New 11/2010 - Posts by members that are knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law will be removed or edited. If a post or part of a post is removed or edited for one of these reasons, the member's warning level will be increased and a one word/short phrase reason will be listed in the warning system with no personal remarks from the moderator.

New 11/2010 - Members are encouraged to use the REPORT system in order to help us moderate effectively. There is a report button under each post, and members will be the first line of defense for board moderation.

New 11/2010 - Moderators will not personally engage members via the Personal Message or Warning system.

New 11/2010 - If a member is warned, a one word/short phrase warning will appear in their warning log with only a reason for the warning. Example: profanity

New 11/2010 - Moderators will not dictate or control thread topics. However, duplicate discussions will be merged. Please use the REPORT function to report duplicate threads.

New 11/2010 - Moderators will not interject personal comments into a discussion.

New 11/2010 - Moderators will determine if multiple increases to the warning system are required. Example - if one post contains multiple insults or profanity, a member's warning level can be increased multiple times respectively if deemed appropriate by the moderator.

New 11/2010 - Members who use the REPORT system excessively for posts that are not deemed in violation may in turn have their warning level increased. Note: a personal insult is an insult directed at you. If you feel insulted by a comment and it is not directed at you personally, please indicate your reasons so that a moderator can take it into consideration.

New 11/2010 - After a member's warning level exceeds 10 blocks, they will be set to Moderator Preview for 10 days. Admin will review the member status after 10 days and set warning level back to warning level deemed appropriate. A simple notification will be put in your warning log that you are on moderator preview. You can still read and post messages, but your posts will not go live until a moderator approves it. This is a manual process, so posts will not display immediately.

New 11/2010 - Members that post comments that contain egregious violations may have their warning level set directly to the max and may be indefinitely set to moderator preview. Furthermore - members who are continually placed on moderator preview may also stay on preview indefinitely.

Although AirlineForums.com does not and cannot review the messages posted and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we at AirlineForums.com reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless AirlineForums.com and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

We at AirlineForums.com also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a legal action arising from any message posted by you.

Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on the Message Boards. Publicly questioning or criticizing a Board Moderator, Board Administrator, or website also reflects poor message board etiquette and will be removed without hesitation or notification. We welcome suggestions and criticisms, but please do so through the Personal Message system.
