That may be true, but what we do does require education & a skill set not every one has. Please don't sell yourself short.

...And IMHO we dishonor them every time we take the easy way out or define ourselves as "just a ramper."

C'mon man. Nobody had to hire any of us. We each brought something to the table, whether it was previous experience, skill set, or personality. Good timing? Maybe. Luck? Not so much...

Don't forget about passing probation and everything else as well...

Don't get me wrong- I'm very much with you on the idea of labor reform. We just have different ideas on how to get there.

To everyone: I get that dumping on Tim is a sport around here, but regardless of how you feel about him or his history, don't underestimate the value of a dissenting voice in a group. Without it, the road to groupthink becomes that much easier. Just a thought...

P.S. P.Rez-- I'm a blind bat. Who is that in your new pic?

You have always been NYer's "Danny DeVito" defending him.  The reality is that NYer finally had to 'fess up' and circle back around.  Maybe he finally retools himself and gives it another shot with politics but imo giving out his real estate cards while begging for votes is counter productive.
I'm taller than DeVito. I prefer Cosmo Kramer.

You know it's true Pat.   The only one who is lying is you.  Your little page you and your team funded that is still up and running is not only filled with lies but is utterly ridiculous.  I'm not even complaining, actually I even commented on the page and gave a few 'likes' to the cheap shots.

At any rate, your ta will pass but I am truly disappointed that you guys chose to agree with management over leaving the part time disparities the same.  Are there any other part timers who have to pay double for medical?  And this is the second contract outside of a bankruptcy that is about 10 years ago.  Oh yeah, one thing you are good at saying, is "We will get that next time'.   And the pension remains the worst in the industry.  Thanks Pat

BTW, getting a 1.5% pay hike for 2013, and 1.5% 2014 for all those who aren't TOS is also a joke.  Thankfully, I'm topped out and you pushed all of us farther ahead with more vacation and better pay, but those behind us aren't even in the rear view mirror anymore.

Save all your BS about how great this TA is.  You guys agreed with management to keep the first day at half pay.  Agreed with management not to bother with increasing holidays, and agreed with management to scale down your promises and only toss in a dime into our pension which is still the worst.

With all of that, exactly what were you guys going to strike over? You should have been able to get this contract the first day you walked into talks.
How can a member at usair vote for this?  Looks like a bankrupt agreement.  13 years to top out?  1.5% pay raises for each of the last two years, except for the elites at top of scale?   I know it is really hard to explain how our contract passed but if our negotiators brought back a contract like this one where part timers pay twice the medical and get half the pension, they would be stoned.  I've read on facebook where some of your members think it's great to make $23 but that's really low for this industry. Your health care looks like a real mess, not surprised with this district leadership.  Good luck for keeping half pay for sick time as well.

Oh no never Kev. But I also believe that we have to maintain a measure of our humility or we're no better than those we rally against.

That's why I like the term GSS, Ground Service Specialist. That's not a pun because I feel that's a better definition for just what we do.

We can call it anything we want but I still know that I'm not better than anyone who puts in a hard days work to try and support themselves or their family.

I'll agree that he does create value to propel a conversation for those who just read. But don't misinterpret the agenda of the individual you are conversing with or we can all wind up suffering for it.

i believe its better than yours simply because scope is very important to me but you guys have none.

That said, seems like everything that the nc promised has come up empty in a cost neutral bargain.

Those not topped out really dont have much reason at all to vote for something that causes the same oppression to continue. Especially part time like mentioned.

Not surprisingly, everyone on the nc was topped out and im fairly certain all full time.

Are we to expect some You Tubes soon? Maybe you should hang the American Flag up behind you and have the Stars and Stripes playing in the background?

People go for that sort of thing you know.

Well, good luck but once again you were correct.  Changing gears, I hear your whole team lost by less than 100 votes but that you will be meeting with the international and that a revote may happen quickly due to charges against the district. Care to comment?

Nothing wrong with that; I just think too often we let the scales tip too far the other way...

Not bad!

We can call it anything we want but I still know that I'm not better than anyone who puts in a hard days work to try and support themselves or their family.
We're all in it together...

And yeah, we are fortunate. And part of that means helping others up the ladder, not kicking it away. That's why I part ways with those that are against things like living wage initiatives, the ACA, and so on.

I was thinking more in the general sense. But you have to admit that if everyone just fell in line and never questioned anything, it'd get pretty ugly pretty fast.

pat
you got them a 1.5% for 2013 and 1.5% for 2014. Thats the math. Moving forward, are you imputing a 15% for 2015?
Show me that on your wage scale please instead of continuing your circle of lies. Alas, the world of Pat who has made the TBD his own.

Tim,

Seriously, I was joking about your math skills until your above post. Go get the pay scale and work through where a person would be now and where they will end up on their next anniversary and you will see what I posted to be accurate.

not sure of total count but i think some on my team will get in when the count is official.

Whatever the case, ill be meeting with the intl and im hopeful that if there is a rerun that it is ordered by the intl over the next couple months as opposed to spilling our housekeeping matters once again into a federal case about the rights of union members. Everyone would rather we resolve our matters inside our house.

Tim I was told that they were going to get you a new desk and a potted plant if you would just stop bothering people. I'll even buy you a few Soduku books to keep you occupied.
