Doug is just happy he refused to take that breathalyzer. He knows he'd be gone now and Scott would have his job.
The crack AAL board is happy, too. Doug didn't flatten any 10 year old pedestrians so they were never forced to virtue signal their deep concern about that sort of thing. It's all good, Babe.

This group only was able to tread water because of cheap labor America West style.
Now that Delta isn't playing nice, there is big trouble.
Between the idiotic move of spending billions on stock that subsequently tanked, and not having a coherent business plan other than jamming seats- these guys are in trouble.
Scott Kirby is apparently mystified that when he actually attempted to be more than a labor basher, that an airline can actually be run cooperatively. It must have been very difficult not reverting to the Jerrold Glass playbook like Doug routinely does.
Doug can't get out of his America West playbook that Glass and F&H Solutions wrote. Dinosaurs is the term most use.
Word is that Scott made use of his 13 million severance from AA.
He delivered what little value he had from AA in a feeble attempt at scope busting.
Oscar schooled him, the America West style leading is over. He carries out Oscars directions explicitly.

Seems HR runs the company now. The product is not flying passengers to their chosen destination anymore. It is providing an all inclusive workplace that cost millions, to have touchy feely group employee interactions.
Air operations merely provide feeble cash flow to facilitate HR ops.
It won't be long until Spirit, JetBlue and Frontier combine to wedge AA far down.

The situation is fast becoming hopeless. One wonders what our comatose board is waiting for before they make a move. Parker and Isom are like the stars of a zany Abbott & Costello movie about a case of mistaken identity leading to a pair of knuckleheads running the world's largest airline.
I personally would have voted for Bud and Lou, may they rest in peace. At least we all would have shared some great laughs as the ship ran aground. Parker's asinine mugging and Isom's creepy grinning at the annual Halloween "celebration" provides no such comic relief to anyone but a few underachieving CenterPort dullards.

Poor Derek Kerr. He seems to be the sacrificial lamb as he has been getting shoved in front of reporters every couple of days for awhile now. His assigned gig? To explain to the appalled business press that the AA train wreck is due to every reason under the sun other than inept management. Poor Derek keeps to the script like the good lad that he is. He tells the reporters that our top management is brilliant and the reporters respond with stories that absolutely savage poor, loyal Derek.
I think it's time to turn this airline into a reality show and bring in Marcus Lemonis of The Profit. Like every episode, he would begin by explaning to the world just how fu*ked up the situation has become and how it is totally the fault of our shifty, deflecting management. Episode One would conclude with Marcus declaring that he can't work with these bozos and demanding that the board send them packing.
Stay tuned for Episode Two.

Isn't that the truth. I've got less than 2 years to go, which is nice. But I really feel for the new employees who came aboard with high hopes and are now watching this train wreck. I wish them all well.
