If Blair Gregg went on this field trip as rumored, maybe this will do him in.

This story is getting hot! The feds already have a hard on for us, I wonder how much this is going to cost?

<_< ------ You'll probably find out after the next meeting of Company, and Negotiating Committee! I'm sure they'll try and pass that expense on to someone!-------Guess who!!?

How come the feds think they have the right to say we can't make a copy of this. Otherwise the only copy goes to the feds, and we know they never lie to anyone!!

With an accident or "incident" of this nature, protocol is that the NTSB gets the black boxes first. Plain and simple.
Thats the rules.
What bothers me is WHY did AA choose to deviate from protocol on THIS one?
AA hasn't had a problem with regards to the NTSB and accident investigation before.
What was SO SPECIAL about this particular incident where NO ONE was killed or injured?

We have had a couple of runway mishaps in the past two months and AA followed proper procedure on those as it has done countless times before.

Was there some newly promoted manager in charge of this recovery?
If so, he/she needs to be FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just like AA fires workers for breaking the rules, then whoever made this call needs to be shown the door!

This is an absolutely one of the dumbest thing this company could have possibly done. This is well below the felony conviction in the 1990's. 'Hopeful' described it accurately. It's cut and dried, black and white and clear as a bell exactly how that box should have been handled.

This company isn't Virgin America where they could blame some newby and a failure to clearly have procedures. AA has been running an airline for nearly 80 years, and dealing with incidents and accidents the entire time.

This incident is like a couple of USA Catholic High School kids getting in the Sistine Chapel at night, taking a leak on the tapestries and shooting the Michaelangelo paintings on the ceiling with paintball guns while munching on the eucharists dipped in stadium nacho cheese.

There are stupid mistakes, then there are ones light years beyond that.

Forgiving the another religious reference, but it's 'come to Jesus time' for American Airlines. Passing off the blame to a subordinate running to a holiday party isn't going to work and shouldn't. There are times when the institutional culture should be examined and a decison made by the regulatory authorities as to whether enough is enough.

Personally, I think the message needs to be sent and 2 senior executives should be sent packing within 2 weeks.

The problem is that American Airlines is no longer an airline that is operated by airline people. It's all about numbers and financial results. The wrong people are running the ship.

.
They'll be kicked upstairs first - sticking one's neck out like that trying to hang a pilot for something is what the present group of bean counters and BOD considers company loyalty and the action will be rewarded. All the FAA will be concerned with is AA paying a fine which goes into the FAA operating budget.

The DFDR and DVR are basically considered evidence at a crime scene and the NTSB is the detective. It is a violation of protocol to tamper with a crime scene.

The management team is a bunch of screwball bumblers. What else is new... They couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag. Unfortunately no one will be accountable, just another day at AA.

Better get while the gettin is good boys, nearly everyday brings a new low. Pretty soon this titanic is goin to the bottom to rest there in the scrap heap of all the other failed carriars.
