Personally, I don't think most NASCAR fans will care. You have a very small percentage of people who flew the stars and bars. I've never owned one, and don't plan to, although I do still fly a Texas flag from time to time.

Interesting that the Virginia battle flag wasn't a lightning bolt issue for the 130 years or so following the end of the war. Clearly it wasn't a problem for the Clinton-Gore campaign in 1992 (although this appears to be a state or locally created button vs. one from the central campaign).
