Aircraft maint issues

Everybody would like lower cost insurance, it's great you have it for now. Problem is, even groups that have real representation have gone to the crap coverage. There is pretty much no way the IAM or TWU would be able to be the one hold out - that maintains better coverage than everybody else.
I know the pilots took a huge rase to give that up.

Most people will take money on the front side and pray they don't have a big medical thing, it sucks if you have something major and have to meet $4000 out of your pocket every year before they will pay everything.

I agree that the LUS side does not like the LAA insurance. I really don't think we have a fighting chance of keeping our insurance. I know we have been discussing it a lot in our shop, If we lose our current insurance then I feel I definitely need more money to cover the increases. The Association better fight real hard on scope. I want a no layoff clause in our contract. If they try to layoff technicians then they must bring the work back in house. Just my opinion

It's been my experience in 27+years that a "no layoff" clause is pretty much worthless.

I pay roughly $75.00 per paycheck (very 2 wks) for myself and my Son. Prescriptions are cheap at about $3.00 for a 90 day supply thru express scripts. When I compare my coverage to my friends outside of AA, we are sitting pretty good in comparison. Sure, it could be better and I would love for it to be cheaper as long as my coverage does not decrease. Personally, medical is not a deal breaker for me. I`m budgeted for it and am accustomed to it. There are many, many more issues that are much more important to me and my family. Here is what my coverage at AA looks like.

Cost Sharing
Individual deductible apply for family coverage? Yes
Annual deductible In Network
$850 Individual; $2,550 Family
Out of Network
$3,000 Individual; $9,000 Family
Out-of-pocket maximum In Network
$2,000 Individual; $5,000 Family; Medical and Prescription copays & coinsurance combined; does not include deductible
Out of Network
$6,000 Individual; $15,000 Family; Medical and Prescription copays & coinsurance combined; does not include deductible

Much better than what we got. Wish I was paying 150 per month. It's more like 150 per paycheck at twice per month 5th and 20th. You better hope you keep that.

I don't see our LAA insurance changing much. I think my 2018 costs will go up about $6.00 / paycheck or $12.00/ month.

I had 4 cancer surgeries and a hernia surgery to boot. I have the value plan aa offers. the out of pocked is 2500 once I met that 100 percent that included nurse home visits wound vac and iv feeding for about 4 months . and 126 days in hospital in 15 and 16.the people who set up my nurse visits etc etc said that I had better insurance then most people. the insurance company came thru for me on several occasion when they would not release me until I had the wound vac etc etc they came thru with same day approval. so us air has the cheaper insurance would be nice but not a deal breaker for me. since my medical bills were near a billion in 15 and my out of pocket was 400 ded and 2500 out of pocket. that's what I care about most is that I'm covered.

So, LUS guys: Was it the letter on Jetnet that finally got your attention? Losing your great medical and retirement plans? Great to see the few IAM guys at the last two pickets. What's the general mood of the IAM guys? Do they finally feel like they have some skin in the game or are they content to ride this out silently as long as they have the better contract compared to LAA?

Ok but how do your deductibles compare? That has to be factored in to your calculations.

Obamacare taxing Cadillac plans while selling poor people expensive, worthless insurance they can't afford and fining them if they don't buy it.

I will tell you what socialized medicine is good for, high taxes, budget cuts, and 3 month waiting periods to see a doctor.

I agree your medical plan is not stellar but it beats anything socialized medicine is going to offer you.

Believe it.

I only bring this up because I know so many of you are pushing for a one payer system. You are cutting your own throats.

I don't want a one payer system, I think the Republicans are giving lip service to replace Obama care. Can anyone name me one social program that has become law in this country and has been repealed?

I have AA insurance and just tried to make an appointment with my doctor. Can't get me in till January. So what were you saying about the waiting period for socialized medicine?

I would much rather them fix it than dump it. Anything they come up with will hurt people who need the insurance the most. Thank God John McCain is still holding out. I hope he lives long enough to stop them until the mid terms than I pray the GOP loses their majority in the senate.

I agree with you old guy, I want them to fix what is wrong. My point is they ran on their program, and I feel the health care system is like what 2 trillion dollars in economics, with really no intent of repealing the law, they just said that to get conservative voters. So what health plan are you guys going to end up with?
