Aircraft maint issues

Overheard local management at DFW hangar - conversing on where they think an extra 300 tool boxes are going to fit. Not sure what that is all about.

Big load of work coming soon on the 737 cowlings. FAA pushed Boeing to beef up the engine cowlings. That's plenty of work for a few years. Think it will be done inhouse?
Yes. We have the same coming to us. A butt load of work, but, not sure at this point when and where they will be done.

Many factors involved.
Time frame to comply with the modification.
Number of engines to be modified.
Ground time to perform the modifications on each aircraft.
Scheduling of aircraft to be out of service.
Hopefully parts, materials and manpower will be sufficient to accomplish the work within the FAA mandated time frame.

I read an article that only addressed beefing up the inlet cowling by Boeing, did you hear anything about CFM having to address the engine fan case? Regardless you are correct, Boeing has it"s hands full right now so doing the work in house could be a plus-plus for both Boeing and maintenance. Plus a big job like that would also be a great training tool for hundreds of new hires in Tulsa from some of our great structure guys who are getting close to retirement. But that makes too much sense.

This article says no mods needed to fan case as it contained the blade but the blade hit at 6:00 basically jarring the fan cowl latch open and allowing the fan cowl aft latch to strike the fuselage near the window that then failed.
The fix will probably be another latch modification for fan cowls either at checks or overnight. The inlet cowl will be more in depth if they want to expand the containment shield. They would either provide new inner barrels to be installed or do the shield bonding on original barrel assemblies, both time consuming. Would like to do the work here in TULE.

Yes. A lot of work. And with the posible reality of the Max's getting in the air again, assuming lot's of o/t to be picked for some time. The guys love it when there's an abundance of o/t available to work when they want to.

When we did the protests in front of terminal, union guys were saying we are all going to be replaced.

looking at transfer page seems like there are more mechs for Tulsa. Clearly association was being less then truthful.

There are 42 Avionics bids open in Tulsa, probably for Oasis.

Scare tactics dude.

Ya we at UA are getting a big ol 48 cents a year raise... wooooo :) And that Industry reset thing is not worth the paper its written on.... heard from the union that the company actually wrote it and it has loopholes for miles. Wont ever be utilized.

will get even larger in 2020 when United gets their 2yr adjustment,
Forgot to add the United info on adjustment every 2 years;

48 cents a year?

How is that even possible..... you work 2080 (40 X 52) hours a year. Even if you only got 1 penny that would still be $20.80 a year.

Did you mean 48 cents per hour?

That comes out to be $‭998.4‬0 per year, $‭83.2‬0 a month and $38.40 a paycheck.

48 cents added to hourly wage each year in December.
Hey man, a bump is a bump. May not sound like much now, but will be calculated upon any future % raises. And at least you guys have a 2 yr adjustment in writing. No one else does. Isn't the amount you guys get based on the average of the other airlines? So that is what drives the amount. It's not tied to the highest or lowest, it's the average isn't it?? Is SWA mechs rates included in the averages? What hourly rate will that put you guys after the adjustment? Good to hear from you again...

On a second note for you D757. Heard a rumor, very low key one, that you guys were collecting AMFA cards, is this true? Are ya all trying to get back with AMFA? And finally, has the teamsters come thru with ANY of their promises that they gave when they claimed all they claimed in order to get in at UAL???
