AMT’s, the time is ripe for us to call on congress for a congressional directive. This directive is in hope of obtaining an Aircraft Maintenance Technician Craft or Class. Currently the NMB has grouped AMT’s (Aircraft Mechanics) into the Mechanic and Related craft or class in violation of the Railway Labor Act section 152.4.

Under the Railway Labor Act section 152.4 congress mandated and commissioned the National Mediation Board (NMB) to assist Employees in labor determination, in the Act it states “Employees shall have the right to organize and bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing. The majority of any craft or class of employees shall have the right to determine who shall be the representative of the craft or class”. There is no question who may be your representative, but according to the Act we are to be represented by craft or class, singular not by crafts or classes in an industrial unit.

finally we decided to form this campaign to Increase the professional status of AMT’s as a unique profession of Highly skilled workers who encompass A&P certified mechanics and repairman’s. This AMT’s possess sufficient skill to accomplish maintenance and repairs of aircraft's, airframe, power plant, Avionics and its components, whom are also personally and directly responsible for the airworthiness condition of aircraft's at overhaul, shops, Hangers and the line.
