Chill out wow. It’s only Wednesday. And how do any of us know they didn’t stay longer?

Sorry ..here's TWUs biggest fan...so they can't update us on that...really...again the TWU has zero transparency, they still are a company bought union ( more members for less pay & benes) and always will be..
Strength in dues...I mean in numbers ...lol

Pretty damn sad isn't it? Are you guys asking why the NC is keeping the details from the membership? Per Bob Owens the co. asked them not to share and the NC complied. What gives? What are they hiding or afraid of when the membership sees all the details??? Weez don't know crap. He simply spouts off at the mouth with misinformation when it comes to the mechanics contract. He really does need to stay in the fleet forum. Let the mechanics discuss the mechanics contract.
I did like how Bob was saying they are nego for restoring what they gave up in the 2003 contract, now would be the time to get it.
So do you guys still not know the new adjusted top out rates???

When you say "trickle down economics" I assume you mean the idea of tax cuts and smaller government, more Capitalism, less Socialism. Lets go with that analogy for now.

Ok, so, please post for me all the great Socialist economies in the world.

I can think of some real time Socialist Disasters, Venezuela comes to mind where folks are literally starving in what was the richest country in South America with vast natural resources, and embraced Socialism and Central planning.

Then look at Singapore, with zero natural resources, embraced Capitalism and the place is a monument to opulence.

Socialism has never worked anywhere since recorded history. Then next time it works will be the first time.
Capitalism OTH, has created more wealth for more people in the history of the world.

If you are going to insist that any tax system where people are taxed higher than trickle down economics must mean socialism, then there is no point in attempting to have a rational debate with you on this topic. But you don't have to take my word on it, and you probably won't take a Republican's either, however:

Trickle down economics is also known as supply side economics. If you want to do more reading about it, feel free to google what Republican President George H. W Bush had to say about it and deficits, or just wait a couple years and check the deficit.

Either way I see no point in trying to discuss it on logical terms.

I've asked this question repeatedly and get crickets each time:
Name all the great things 8 years of Obama did for Labor...

I'd like to know what carve outs U.S. Citizens get from our nation of laws?
None? Then why do illegals get them?
It's not about jobs that some may not want to do. I've had numerous jobs I didn't like, they were ALL building blocks to my work experience and resume.

@NYer has done this many times on these forums and can do it better than me. I am sure Piedmont can as well. Can either NYer or Piedmont throw some of the many things out on here?

I can tell you the Republican governors of many states have tried to union bust. Ohio and Wisconsin come to mind. Again, I am not saying that Democrats are perfect, but any implication that Democrats are not friendlier to organized labor than republicans are provably false.

Wasn’t Clinton responsible for NAFTA?...neither side has been good for organized labor...the sad part is that major unions signed off on it...no foresight despite being warned back then...

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/22/business/economy/nafta-labor-unions-wages.html

On a side note from the Dems vs. Reps...The union met with the company, the last two days...crickets...guess we have to wait for the company to tell us their side of the story, and give us details...what a waste of union dues

I am told it was, as previously announced, mostly tying up loose ends from issues that have been previously TA'd but I heard that second or third hand.

it's amazing that the usa didn't collapse in a heap of rubble in 1951 when there were virtually no illegals in the midwest harvesting crops, busing tables, flipping hamburgers, cutting grass or working poultry/meat processing plants..

picking broccoli and strawberries on a corporate farm for $9/hr with no benefits wouldn't appeal to most americans.

i understand that seasonal workers came and went; but not so much in the midwest.

if that's your argument...i cited something else, which you skipped over, i cited what nobel prize winning economists claim; illegal immigration depresses wages.

big business and the wealthy clearly benefit the most (as sourced yesterday) from illegal immigration and fight behind the scenes and in the open for more immigration; illegal and legal, so the argument was; can the democratic party be for american labor and also be for illegal immigration?

my feeling is that both political parties in the usa are distanced from labor..no one doubts the republican party is. i brought up how the republican party once courted labor and bragged about labor's advances under a republican president (eisenhower's 1st term).

I am not doubting the sources you site, maybe they are correct. I don't know enough about how those workers impact wages to make a solid argument. I do know that where I live, the jobs these people do, are not jobs that citizens appear willing to do. I do not see how going back to Eiesnhower's term is relevant to undocumented immigrants today. The South used to be solidly Democratic, but the change to a mostly Republican South occurred even more recently than Eisenhower's terms you are trying to make examples of. I really don't think examples from the 50's have much relevancy to undocumented workers today. That was 60 or 70 years ago. Many things have changed.

Western and Eastern Europe have mostly united, with much of that due to Reagan. I am not saying all Republicans are bad and all Democrats are good. The Democrats might have won in 2016 had we put up a better or less disliked candidate. I am saying that for those of us here, during most of our work careers as organized labor, Democrats have been MUCH more friendly to organized labor. How many Democratic governors and Democrats in Congress have tried to bust unions recently? I am pretty sure none have. How many Republicans have? The governors of OH and WI certainly have and with the RTW laws trying to get passed in Congress, the only hope of stopping them is to for Democrats to get the at least House back which looks likely to happen. That will not stop the SCOTUS from further anti-union rulings. That would require a Democrat-led Senate which looks uncertain.

How many Republicans showed up at the big TWU convention in LAS last year? I don't think any did. I know there were Democrats there. Any attempted argument that republicans are friendlier to organized labor than democrats are false.

Here's something for you Swampy, since you live to trash American TWU/ IAM. Pretty damn sad AMFA can't produce a T/A for us to look at after over 60 days, is that so they can drive more money to the Lawfirm, and our negotiating committee, can spend more of our dues money. Hmmm that sounds like an Industrial union you hate Swampy. Oh that's right AMFA gets a free pass.
