FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The union representing striking pilots and flight engineers at a South Florida air cargo company said Friday a tentative agreement up for a vote this weekend would make improvements including putting bathrooms on the planes at Amerijet International Inc.

Pilots said they weren't provided basic necessities on the cargo planes, including bathrooms, food and water. Instead, they were forced to defecate into plastic bags directly beside the food and other goods being transported. Because full bags can't be easily discarded, they accumulate on longer flights, leaving a heavy stench.

The Federal Aviation Administration says there are no federal requirements for airlines to provide working restrooms.
