Another one of the greatest generation is gone:

My properly best Salute to yet another of our fallen. Survive any enemy/circumstance/whatever and a sadly brief moment of Time takes us all regardless. What one actually does while "here" matters and that man's worthy of respect from his Service to all of us. I don't care to even imagine the survivor's "Guilt" he must have sometimes suffered. May he now be at peace with his shipmates. I recall Ensign George Gay, the sole survivor of Torpedo Eight from their incredibly courageous attack during the Midway battle having his burial request being lowering his ashes into the same spot his comrades sacrificed themselves in battle so many years before, and that was properly done by our U.S. Navy with full Honors. Such wishes should always be respected whenever possible, lest we cease being a Nation worthy of that term.
