I would hope that Delta doesn't go quite as far with this as the writer suggests?

Everything he said about basic economy is true. You get a seat assignment at the gate and damn sure don't get priory boarding or anything like that. 
 
 
 
and thats exactly how it should be. No reason why a 100 dollar per ticket family of four should get a better seat than the last minute walk up fare of 2,000 bucks. 
 
However if they want things like a seat assignment they can pay for it...... 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
FWIW UA and AA have or will be rolling out basically the same program. Can't really question it, look at the margins airlines like NK are posting.
