On another area it was posted that 200 Pilots and F/A's were furloughed. Does anyone know if this is true or just a nasty rumor? It was suggested that more furloughs may soon follow. Just wondering and hoping for the best.........

I heard from a friend who flies for ATA that there is "a major announcement" of some sort to be made this coming week. He didn't know the nature of it--he was only told that there would be one.

Doubt this is true--at least for the moment. My friend who is a f/a with them just finished probation in late Sept.; so, of course, if there were a furlough he would be among the first to go. I just talked with him last night. As of then, he was still working.

ATA is laying off 150 flight attendants and six employees—two first officers and four flight engineers—who belong to its pilots union, the spokeswoman says. The cuts are effective Oct. 31.
