Cant let the opportunity to make money off Sandy stop profits.

As the New York area recovers from Sandy it seems that resources were given to reopen the NYSE while Belvue Hospital was shut down and evacuated. The news reports 5 hour delays across the 59st street bridge as the suits clamor back into the Wall Street area to make sure they are able to take adavantage of the storm and maximize profits.

The priorities should be to restore power and the transportation system. If you are not contributing to cleaning up the devastation of the storm in some real fashion you should not be out there. The suits should stay home and out of the way, not be out there clogging up the roads and slowing up restoration of the syatems everyone else is relying on such as power and mass transit.
Afte the systems are up and running should the Investment services be opened up for business again.

Its a shame that Hospitals are being evacuated, and the NYSE is open for business. Suits clogging up the roads in order to make sure thay can profit from the disaster-Shame.

Definitely not a fan of Wall Street but this rant seems a bit of a stretch. Exactly what resources were diverted?

How many people work in Wall Street? A few thousand? Not all the folks who work in Wall Street are rich. Some are working stiffs just like a lot of the other folks on the transit systems who were trying to get to work.

What would the impact on the NYC economy be if the banks and stock markets decided to relocate?...
