No idea what the crusades have to do with this but having read the entire statement that Obama I know there is a bit more to the statement.

As for the other countries getting involved. Looks like Jordan just took out a major player with ISIS along with 50+ other members. Numerous Imams as well as other leaders have spoken out quite strongly against ISIS. While talk does nothing, that is more than we have ever seen and perhaps they will actually step up to the plate.

Among his reasons -- the governments of Muslim-majority nations have "failed to confront Islamic terrorism (and) have not attacked violence in the name of Allah."

The Arabs have endlessly been attacking and terrorizing people for more than 1,400 years. Saudi’s have been funding the expansion of jihad since America handed them oil contracts to “help” poor bedouines. America is constantly being blamed for Muslim terrorism in the Middle East. But Muslim terorism never ends. It’s part and parcel of Islam and have been happening nonstop for more than 1,400 years. If they can’t terrorize someone, they are not true Muslims and not deemed dedicated enough.
