Brazil sees American Airlines investment as show of confidence

Ah, the giant sucking sound of more good jobs going away.

It will be interesting to see how big this place turns out to be. A $100 million investment from AA plus no telling how much in incentives from the government . Also in the second paragraph it mentions eventually offering services to other airlines. Sounds like they have big plans for the place.

Those TULE guys must be pissed, they got all upset when AA invested $3m into PIT instead of TUL.

That's a $100m in Brazil, that place is going to be huge.

So let's see pilots and FA's want flights to South America and customers - the planes sit all day down there / why wouldn't you want maintenance done on a preventative basis - like a RON at any station it just happens to be daylight and you have so many aircraft on the ground there to get a decent amount of work done.

Should QF shut its maintenance based at LAX because it's outside of Australia?

I wonder what changed Parkers mind about working on other airlines planes. He told us here in Tulsa, he wanted nothing to do with outside work.

No telling what kind of incentives AA is getting in Brazil, but I'll guarantee the labor rates will be cheaper, even cheaper then an OSM, and what we have learned on this forum is that current OH mechs will not accept a contract that is not equal with line mechs.

It sucks to hear, especially while negotiating a contract and being asked to "take a leap" or whatever.....but bottom line is it's non TWU work (outsourcing). We all know outsourcing is going to be increased in our next contract if we read between the lines when Parker promised Delta +?. It's really no different than the F/A's having foreign based crews working at a lower rate. Business wise it's a smart move but it doesn't instill that team feeling the execs are trying for. Just another kick in the nuts.
