If only that irrational behavior was present, when a group of Muslims bought one way airplane tickets with a bunch of box cutters.

Political correctness is a brain rot disease.

No, the reality of the world we live in.
If it wasn't found and was real and detonated, then who would you hang out to dry?

AV Techvoice:

If we stop and think – was it really such a ridiculous reaction from the teacher and the police in the first place? How many school shootings and incidents of violence have we had, where we hear afterwards “this could have been prevented, if only we paid more attention to the signs!” Teachers are taught to be suspicious and vigilant. Ahmed wasn’t accused of making a bomb – he was accused of making a look-alike, a hoax. And be honest with yourself, a big red digital display with a bunch of loose wires in a brief-case looking box is awful like a Hollywood-style representation of a bomb.

Finger gun gets a suspension......teachers did ok in this respect.

Ever meet the sister?

After the MSNBC segment, Eyman and I sit down in the hallway where she says the same thing happened to her as Ahmed.
“I got suspended from school for three days from this stupid same district, from this girl saying I wanted to blow up the school, something I had nothing to do with.”
Eyman talks with the slightest lisp, almost imperceptible, but it becomes stronger as she gets emotional.
“I got suspended and I didn’t do anything about it and so when I heard about Ahmed, I was so mad because it happened to me and I didn’t get to stand up, so I’m making sure he’s standing up because it’s not right. So I’m not jealous, I’m kinda like—it’s like he’s standing for me.”
Eyman said her suspension was in her first year of middle school, “my first year of attempting middle school in America. I knew English, but the culture was different, the people were different.”

The other part is a timer. Which Ahmed's little deconstructed clock (not invention) coincidentally went of in the middle of class.

Zero tolerance in school, so little bomb hoax instigator boy was detained and questioned which would be standard procedure.

Or are you saying teacher's should be trained to spot differences in live ordinance, IED's etc?

I'm surprised you would show your level of ignorance regarding a teacher, not specifically trained in recognizing an IED, would sound an alarm regardless of whether or not it was real...

Save the students first, ask questions later.

The first teacher told him not to show it around

He didn't sound any alarms, or call the bomb squad, or even tell anyone

Probably because there was no reason to

Must not have been very scary

I have seen the pics

It ain't a bomb

(It ain't even a clock...)

It is merely the outrage of the day

Maybe you should show the teacher, who had no previous knowledge of another teacher telling the kid to keep it out of sight, for her future knowledge.

Maybe folks shouldn't freak out unnecessarily

Did she evacuate the classroom?

Throw the non-bomb out the window?

Call the bomb squad?

Do any thing that someone who believed it was a bomb might actually do?

No
