CLT-CID

Interesting the build up of connections to the Midwest

I see it as the opposite.  Connections from the midwest to the south and Carib.

Here is a lengthy article from the Cedar Rapids paper about the CID flight:

Doesn't begin until November, so it looks like it's geared toward Caribbean destinations (mentioned in the article).

Peoria is probably the same thing, but less extensive press coverage.

CID is a 2-class CR7 while PIA is a 50-seat CRJ.

Here is a shorter article about PIA-CLT:

Cedar Rapids is partially subsidized; I suspect the same for Peoria.

These are precisely the types of network synergies that were anticipated and promised with the merger.

Flights have re/started from LAA hubs to traditionally stronger LUS stations/regions (ORD-ALB, ORD-PVD, etc.) and from LUS hubs to traditionally stronger LAA stations/regions (PHL-GRR, CLT-FWA, CLT-EVV, now CLT-CID and CLT-PIA, etc.).  I agree with others that this will open up new and better connections from both of these regions - eastern Iowa and central Illinois - to the eastern U.S. and, perhaps most importantly, Florida and the Caribbean.

Any chance of HVN-CLT flights? A very under served airport but with a 5600 foot runway. UA ran 737's to ORD but with frequent weight restrictions. Flights from ORD were at times oversold so a good market exists.Since then, overruns added, trees cut and utility lines rerouted. When UA left in 1996, there were no ERJ-170's or ERJ-175's which should work at HVN. Present service is only Dash-8's to PHL. The Dash's are really showing their age and the fleet is shrinking.
