Delta supports illegal immigration-Boycott Delta...

From the article :    On Friday Veda Shook, former president of the Association of Flight Attendants, joined in a pro-Obama rally Friday at the White House. Afterwards she tweeted about it, including a photo and declaring: “Immigration reform; it’s about all of us.”
Wonder if she realized that on this issue, at least, she and Delta are allies.

yes DL and the Obama administration have allot in common - they both can do what ever they want - DL has at will employees - Obama ignores the constitution running as a dictator

I hope folks remember when the other party is in power the precedents this president set that others will follow

I'm not sure why anyone thinks this is such an issue.

Illegal immigrants can't travel freely.

Legal immigrants are a huge market which DL is interested in serving, esp. to/from Latin America and Asia.

DL along with AA and UA came out just a couple weeks ago supporting a new treaty between the US and China that makes tourist visas between the US and China valid for 10 years.

it's not hard to see the value to airlines in both the immigration reform and the China visa issues.

What does a chinese visa program have anything to do with immigration - nothing

The visa treaty is about legal travel between two countries

The immigration debate is about unlawful entry into the US

oh my.

thanks for showing us why you don't get it.

extended visas provide the ability for increased travel at a lower cost.

Illegal immigrants who are legalized become a huge source of travel.

it's not rocket science.

immigrants and visitors both buy airplane tickets.

I'm not defending or defaming what Obama is doing. Since the US has a governmental system of checks and balances, the other branches of government have a say in anything that a President wants to do.

I am simply telling you why DL clearly supports the immigration reform issue - and it is about revenue.

OMG - thanks for responding to show everyone how you get nothing

We now why DL is supportive - they want to hire immigrates to replace DL at will employees

of course. what else would we expect you to believe?

the REVENUE that is potentially associated with immigrants who can become legal and travel is FAR larger than the employees they can hire.

Unions have allowed more contracting to be done at unionized airlines than DL has ever done. The fact that DL has its own people in more locations than AA or UA, has more res offices, and is bringing work back to mainline employees from regional carriers faster than any other carrier should be proof enough.

but let's not contaminate another thread with a union vs. non-union argument.

but the price of a lot of other goods and services might go up as formerly illegal aliens are moved into the rest of the legal marketplace.

BTW, you might consider what the EU has done with annexing countries in order to increase the supply of workers to support an aging population.

the US might not be growing the size of the US but anyone that wants to blab about the morality of the issue one way or the other would do well to consider the actual reasons behind the issue and ALL of the reasons why DL or any company might be interested in seeing its markets grow.

and if the union movement was half awake, they too might see opportunity in what Obama is proposing - but we wouldn't really expect union leaders to think strategically, now would we?

HEY WT! You just contaminated the thread!  "Unions have allowed....... yada yada yada" & "and if the union movement was half awake,...... yada yada yada"

(You just can't help yourself can you).

No he cannot. And he does not get the guest of the topic still.  Supporting illegals to be blessed into our country after being here illegally is total BS, PERIOD...

Real talk!
someone gets it.

once again, it's an argument of "how weak we are and they will get us" vs. "DL is excited about the potential to increase its revenues"

given that DL employees are higher compensated than their peers at all but WN on average and have seen larger pay raises and more of them than any other airline employees, it is really hard for you to argue with any kind of straight face that DL is out to get you....

meanwhile, DL leads the US industry in revenue generation and DL has the highest yield among large US carriers....

it's pretty obvious what this is really about - increasing DL's revenues.
