Long overdue and awesome for our community. Logan has truly transformed into a global hub in only a few short years. I received the following from the Israeli Consulate of New England:

Direct Flights will Facilitate Growing Ties between Israel & New England

The Consulate General of Israel to New England is pleased to announce that an agreement was reached between El Al and Massport for direct flights to Tel Aviv. Consul General of Israel, Mr. Yehuda Yaakov, remarked on this achievement, "Direct flights pave the way for a further strengthening of Israel-US ties, both economically and culturally. We look forward to seeing many more of our New England friends exploring firsthand our diverse society and rich history." El Al will conduct direct flights from Boston's Logan Airport to Ben Gurion Airport beginning this summer.

great news.

now you have no reason to fly to the cesspool that is NYC in order to get a flight to Israel (in the eyes of a New Englander)

this is about where DL is adding extra capacity.

DL has chosen ATH for growth, not TLV.

you can ask the mods to lock the thread if you would like.

there is nothing more to say about DL in TLV at this point.

looks like DL is going to fly extra service to ATH next year. 333 daily plus several extra days worth of 767 flying from JFK.

How are the yields to ATH?  I figure with the Greek economy still in the dumpster business can't be that good, could it?

Greece is a heavily US origination market. the weakness in southern Europe doesn't stop Americans from going there.

further, the Euro is weaker than it has been for some time.

the reason why AA and DL are adding capacity to continental Europe is because Europe becomes a better value for Americans with a stronger dollar.

and DOT data shows that DL saw significant growth in ATH last summer - above growth levels in other European markets.

Great - now it's OK for AA to add capacity to Europe as WT says DL is doing it - remember all the posts where AA was accused of flooding the market

nice try saying this is now about DL adding capacity - the thread is about DL dropping capacity to TLV

you just posted AA needs to cut capacity on another thread - now which is it

oh now I see - you have qualified it now with "profitable" capacity

it's hard when you spin so much you can't keep the spin straight
