Does Delta still have NWA scabs working?

Im just curious if there are any scabs left, and how they are being recieved by the other AMT's. I for one wouldnt and will not forget, even though I am not from NWA...

just to be clear, the strike action and the hiring of replacements was done by NW, not DL. DL simply hired the employees NW had on the payroll at the time of the merger and did not consider union activities or loyalties.

What is the point of the original post? You won't forget because.....? Your "remembrance" will impact DL or its maintenance operation or the mechanics who work there how?

DL didnt hire the NW employees, there was a merger, when you merge, employees are merged also.

precisely... DL took over the responsibilities and assets of NW, including its employees. DL didn't hire them directly but their paycheck came out of DL's bank accounts and thus they became DL employees. They were hired by DL as much as NW's debt became DL's and as much as the revenue that NW collected for its tickets went into DL's bank accounts, even before the two operations were fully merged.

It is precisely because it was a full merger that DL didn't pick and choose which employees, aircraft, or debt to assume... it all came over and it was up to DL to decide how to manage it all - which they have done well.

Passengers don't anymore care where the employees came from or what their loyalties are than that DL has retained the -US a and -NW registration on a number of the aircraft.

It is all DL now and what happened before is of no consequence.

After the companies merged, I do believe some of that money was from NW, DL didnt have all the money.

They were not hired, they didnt fill out job applications, go through the backgrounds checks, and drug testing to work at the merged company.

It ALL became DL's responsibility after the companies merged... that is what a merger means. You can't have it one way to mean the money and another regarding the employees.

Specific to this discussion, DL didn't have anything to do with whatever happened between NW and its labor unions, hired the employees NW had on the payroll as of the date of the merger, and did in fact assume responsibility for the obligations of NW, including parts of the claims that AMFA members had against NW at the time of the merger. There are former AMFA/NW employees who have pass benefits on DL today because DL assumed responsibility for NW's obligations even though DL had nothing to do with the strike or lockout.

the word "hire" in English does not mean simply the initial act of doing an interview and providing the first paycheck.

All of the PMNW mechanics were "hired" by DL the day the merger became effective.

hire
[hahyuhr] Show IPA verb, hired, hir·ing, noun, adjective

verb (used with object)
1. to engage the services of (a person or persons) for wages or other payment: to hire a clerk.

2. to engage the temporary use of at a set price; rent: to hire a limousine.

noun
3. the act of hiring.

4. the state or condition of being hired.

5. the price or compensation paid or contracted to be paid for the temporary use of something or for personal services or labor; pay: The laborer is worthy of his hire.

6. Informal. a person hired or to be hired: Most of our new hires are college-educated. (and apparently know the definition of "hire").

DL passengers as well as the airlines that HIRE DL to perform maintenance services more than any other airline in the western hemisphere don't care what kind of relations NW had with its employees because DL runs a top notch operation in part due to its mechanics who really don't care about where anyone came from.

I've still yet to hear why this question matters to the OP or how his "remembrance" will effect DL or its mechanics.

the simple answer is, no, DL does not have scabs because there was no strike or lockout by DL.

DL has hired tens of thousands of airline employees from other airlines and frankly could care less what labor history they have had with other carriers; DL has its own performance-related job criteria and not one item has anything to do with job history.

DL employees don't care - they didn't even vote in unions when given the opportunity - and the passengers sure as heck don't care.

Why then would the company?

scabbing is something unions and their supporters have to worry about.... the majority of DL employees including mechanics have said they don't care about unions and thus could care less about what people have done in the past with unions.

You will recall there wasn't even a vote with the mechanics after the merger - the only major workgroup that there wasn't even enough employees at NW in a union or enough interest at DL since to warrant an election.

While a few internet union supporters worry about scabs, DL employees are running one of the best airlines in the world (how many airlines in the world have a market cap above DAL's $15B? none in the US) and are receiving the just rewards for their decisions to leave the union nonsense to others and focus on doing their jobs very well instead.

maybe they will but probably not...whether they do or not won't have anything to do with who NW hired after the strike and lockout.
