A Boeing 777 that was to fly from Seattle to Dubai was delayed for more than six hours by a mechanical issue. Emirates acquired and installed a spare part from Delta’s local engineering office but a senior manager later ordered that it be removed, Emirates said.

Why not?
TechOps is also an MRO and does plenty of work for competitors. If Delta has a chance to make money off of Emirates it'd be pretty foolish not too.

Right now any mistake DL makes (or apparently the Atlanta airport) is going to be pushed in the media by the middle east carriers. Nothing can really be done about that.
