FAs reach TA

On the pilot forum one of the guys said this FA proposal has a $15k signing bonus in it.
15K sounds decent, but, always a but in there, the problem with signing bonuses are the way they are taxed. Plus you gotta remember to deduct any 401K, retirement and so forth that will come out of it.  When it's all said and done your looking at about 30-40% take home of the 15K.  The taxes will take care of about 38-40% of it since they are calling it a bonus rather than your regular taxed income rate.  Trying not to knock the bonus offer, 15K is a decent SB offer, just want everyone to think about everything that will come out of that 15K.  It sounds as if the entire NC is signing off on it to be passed to the MEC to have their vote on it rather to send it out to membership for a vote.  Good luck folks. Hope it's everything the membership wants.

From what my UA pilot friends are saying... there are gobs of senior s-UA FA's sitting on reserve watching all the 787 flying go to the s-CO FA's, including newhires.

They're saying it will pass.

Assuming it does, that just leaves the IBT, no?

I hope the F/A's are happy with it. And I think your correct E, that would leave the IBT covering the mechanics left to get a contract at UAL. Just odd that the group with the same union representing both sides is last to come to terms.  Maybe new CEO will now push the co. to get settled with the mechanics as well...

It would be cool if there was one UAL flight att on this board to tell us what they think....  Im wondering if there is a buyout offer in it and whether or not there is actually a signing bonus.

Do you have where UAL is now at 13 years and final top out rate?  And do you have where CAL is before this contract at year 13 and top out (end of contract)?   Just curious on the amount of increases being offered as a %. Thx.
OOps forgot to add this.  That is very odd on the no signing bonus.  I disagree with the unions explanation of why no signing bonus. But, we will see if it bothers the members enough, that could be a motive for some NO votes

It's a pretty hefty raise, so maybe they (AFA) decided it's better to take money over the duration of the contract than up front?

UA just did a buyout a year or so ago, so why include another one when they're already hiring vs. furloughing?

It means that a jumpseat riding flight attendant wont be bumped off a flight due to weight restrictions. Instead of the jumpseat riding attendant being bumped cargo or a passenger or whatever would be un-boarded instead. So its a good thing for the flight attendants.

I think that united FAs were protected from weight bumping but continental FAs were not and now all are protected, if it passes.
