Southwest CEO's compensation up in '05
Dallas Business Journal - April 13, 2006
Southwest Airlines gave its chief executive officer a 28 percent raise in compensation 2005, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The Dallas-based, low-cost carrier paid CEO Gary Kelly $404,719 in salary, a $275,000 bonus and $68,980 in other compensation.

The compensation package is up more than 165,000 from the $322,436 in salary, $220,000 bonus and $41,095 in other compensation he received in 2004.

Southwest (NYSE: LUV) pays its officers bonuses in January of each year. Kelly was awarded a $385,000 bonus for 2006, which will be counted as part of his 2006 compensation package.

Kelly has been CEO since July 2004. Prior to that he was executive vice president and chief financial officer since 2001.
