IAM has new contract at NK

Spirit Ramp Agents Approve First Contract by 98 Percent

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) yesterday announced that Spirit Airlines Ramp Agents approved their first collective bargaining agreement by a staggering 98 percent.

The five year first agreement runs through 2020 and provides between approximately 13 and 22 percent in general wage increases, no layoff protection, no outsourcing guarantees, benefit preservation, a formal grievance procedure ending in neutral arbitration and shrinks the time to achieve top pay from 12 years to seven.

"Our entire union thanks those members that participated in the station voting process," said IAM District 141 President Rich Delaney."We especially thank the members of the Negotiations Team for their hard work to bring back an agreement that 98.1% of the members endorsed."

The IAM and Spirit have agreed to remain at the bargaining table to negotiate further enhancements to the already ratified basic terms, which become effective on June 14, 2015.

Spirit Ramp Agents voted in favor of IAM representation in July, 2014. First contract negotiations took under one year and formally ended their insecure "employment at will" status.

job security at a company that can't even fly the same schedule for two weeks in a row?

really?

"...a company that can't even fly the same schedule for two weeks in a row..."

I too would like to see a credible link to substantiate this claim.

Another one of his made up "facts" that someone called him out on and will make up a 10,000 word reply.

NK does not fly a continuous schedule for two weeks in a row.

that is a fact.

btw, did you say that NK has a WHOLE 231 rampers to support a fleet of over 70 aircraft?

Do you really expect us to believe they are doing anywhere close to all of their ramp work inhouse with that few rampers?

Oh,its a fact?

Great!

Facts are easy to verify - So, AGAIN, please provide a credible link to substantiate your claim.

Spirit has limited cities staffed with its own personnel, mostly at FLL.
So they have a contract that really doesn't mean much because most of their work is outsourced to begin with because they fly such a different schedule that it never would make sense to hire their own personnel in the vast majority of their cities and so they outsource the work.

hardly sounds like a great union win.

The prosecution rests, your honor.

You have shown zero evidence to prove otherwise.

Prosecution failed to prove its case, case dismissed.

yes, if it is accurate that NK has less than 300 rampers for a fleet of 72 aircraft, then your statement is completely why the IAM has organized such a small number of NK rampers.

NK heavily outsources a large part of its non-hub operations because it runs a very unstable schedule in its outstations which makes it virtually impossible to add its own personnel.

NK already and will continue to outsource far more because of its highly variable schedule and that leads to less job security unless you happen to live in NK's primary hub.

You claimed this was fact, yet still have failed to produce a credible link to support your statement. If its factual then back it up.

He know he got caught in another lie, that is his typical response is to ignore it.

wt,

And the IAM got Spirit a good CBA for a first one.

So how many planes does DL have?

How many cities does DL fly too?

How many are staffed by DL ramp employees?

How many stations did NW bring to the merger and how many did DL?
