I'll never forget, the day we walked, I went out to the hall around 2pm. We been on strike maybe since midnite. All the high mucky mucks were back in the office area, door locked. Someone would come out and make some kind of statement and go back in. When the man came out to pass something on, all these dudes, most younger than me and with families, who had also had a hydraulic lunch, were all rather loudly asking "Have they called yet" . I remember looking at one kid and thinking, 'we only been out 14 hours, this could go on for months'......Have they called yet....yeah Seth Schoefield is in the back room begging Vic Mazzocco to let us come back....LOL
Well, the flyboys flipped us the bird, the courts ordered the flight attendants to work..... and kept the airline running at 60% or better capacity, the writing was on the wall and in less than 72 hours 'we reached an agreement'.
The union played it up like we kicked their butts...the reality was freaking out junior mech's with everything on credit were about to go back to work...ala cross the picket lines......I remember hearing talk in the crowd on how they couldn't afford losing a weeks wages and so on. Cool why'd ya walk then?
