JetBlue pilots choose ALPA

there might be a little more interest in the union kind of discussions that are prominent on this forum in the coming years.

let's see how long and how easy/painful it will be to get a first contract

Yeah, not likely. I don't think there are any active B6 employees left here to show interest, let alone participate.

yet it apparently was consolidation in the rest of the industry that might have been the biggest motivation for B6 pilots to unionize.

They might not want to talk to the rest of us but they can't ignore us.

B6 and DL do both get good press for their service.

you can hold the hooray until there actually is a contract in place.

Any wagers on how long it will take?

yeah, you're an outsider. You'll have no insight.

They did get instant ALPA merger language out of the deal, I guess. Would be hard to imagine that ALPA would deny that they get any representation the minute the first thousands of dollars start flowing out of B6 pilot paychecks and into ALPA coffers.

I'm betting 18 to 24 months for a first contract. And I'm optimistic

True. Never've claimed otherwise w/r/t to B6. So are you. So what?

My guess-and it's just that- is less than 18mos., and assumes B6 wants a deal fast to avoid any labor related headaches?
