Since Lufthansa has annouced an alliance with US and will be flying back into CLT. Do you think that US will make money on the alliance with Lufthansa? Just a thought for all you US smart ones.....
As a frequent US customer, I love the UAL partnership and I'm sure LH (and Star) will be just as good. However, I really think US needs to market the alliances a bit more. Fact is many people would never consider US to, say, IST, yet via the codeshare one can fly US to PIT/PHL/CLT to FRA and then to IST on LH (marketed as a US flight). Also, if US isn't yet, it really needs to market the alliances to corporate travel managers and encourage the travel managers to communicate the benefits within their traveler base. I work for one of US's big customers in the DC area, yet we have heard NOTHING from our travel office on the alliances. I partially fault US for this.
