There are no reserves in SEA. MSP is the only DC10 base.

Does this just apply to the cockpit? I thought AA (my airline) was the only one left that allowed f/as to drop quals on a/c they don't want to fly. Every f/a should be qualified on every a/c the airline flies. Allows for combined reserves and lower overall staffing.

The press, and the public, don't. In fact, every report I have seen on the MWH situation referenced the DTW situation. Neither they, nor the NWA spokespersons, pointed out the differences in the two situations. Considering the commonality, the headline "Passengers Held Hostage", why would they?

Well hopefully on this thread we won't make that error!

Since the subject of the thread is the press coverage of yet another operational faux pas, and the effect that has on public perception ("airline bashing"), does it really matter?
