Parker looks like a fool in this interview. Puts the excuse for Delta because they fly out of their main hub in Atlanta, huh? What about AA flying out of their main hub Dallas??
Then he says it will take 2-3 MORE years just to "catch up" with United, and noting to only 1/2 way "catch up" to United. I bet Kirby at United WILL NOT allow that to happen.
When will Parker learn he is in way over his head. Watch Kirby take United on a trip no one will forget as he has something to prove. This will get interesting indeed. BOD and investors are getting nervous as it has already been 4-5 years and haven't been able to reap the full rewards of the merger. Just proves Parker has no clue how to run a big airline. If someone would have told the investors, BOD and employees up front that it would take over 8-10 years just to "catch up" to United and still no where close to Delta, Parker would have NEVER been put in charge...

Would like to add this more descriptive article and more on the money. And I stand corrected as it has been 6 plus years since the merger. The 4-5 years stated above are how long nego's have been going on for...

Making profits and full flights. Parker is doing a great job.
Don't worry about poor customer service, poor employee relations, poor labor relationships and our stock is at the bottom of the toilet.

the margin gap is the result of aa's decision to boost RJ flying/go after the 'once a year travelers'. they bragged to wall street that 'premium economy' pax paid 2.8x's more per ticket than economy pax.

that's great. in the meantime, delta's revenues are now at 53% premium while united reconfigured old 767s for more premium seats to lhr. these dl & ua pax are paying thousands of dollars while aa's 'premium economy' pax are paying $550.

this is aa missing this recent/current extended economic boom cycle. thank God for the shale oil revolution, otherwise, it would be scandalous to realize where aa would be at during an economic boom and depressed oil.

to make matters worse, aa's RJ arm is the worst rated airline in the usa. recently, the RJ ground handlers, envoy, had a sick-out. their punishment was an attendance step and losing CS privileges for 30 days.

they are also now in mediation for their contract - mediation that the twu sought. i thought they were showing anger by playing cards and dominoes and watching their cell phones all day as premium bags burned. i guess that's just the norm. i'm afraid wall street knows all this.

carry on.

kind of interesting, wonder how he is going to do it? its clear the employees arent buying into what they are selling. should be a fun ride. hopefully when it becomes clear it will not happen it will prove the whole management team failed and not just parker.

All the more reasons i dont fly on us n i steer my friends n family away. So sad what has come to. Yet its even more disgusting those b@$t@rds on bod n wall street accept cheapskate Parker n the toilet $h!t he put AA in

Ahh the BS crap Parker knows nothing about pertaining to sick. We the employees are f..k.d either using it...or coming to work sick. Just 1 of many many issues Parker "doesnt know about" Hello BOD when the H€!! You gonna fire parker n cronies bec its definitely a colossal failure of epic proportion by a mgmt team thats clueless n has failed.

swamt remember when they offered us all Dell computers for free when they transitioned us to direct deposit (and by free I mean American Airlines covered the cost)? Nice way for Dell to make money and American Airlines to get a tax break wouldn't you say?

Would it interest you to know that Donald J Carty held a board of directors position at Dell computers?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_J._Carty
Carty became the Vice Chairman and chief financial officer of Dell. On June 13, 2008, Carty retired from day-to-day operations, but stayed on as a director.

Carty Gets $300,000 Thank-you from Dell
Retired CFO, still on the board, is cited in a non-contract award for service that includes dealing with an SEC probe of accounting.

He serves on the boards of directors of Dell Computer Corporation, Brinker International, and the Canada-U.S.Foundation for Educational Exchange.

Must be nice to be in the good old boy club. I can't confirm this but apparently this is his house.

Mr. Carty has been a member of the Company’s board of directors since 1992 and for much of that time has served as chairman of the Audit Committee. From 1998 to 2003, Carty served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of AMR Corporation.

You need to take a look at these CEO's and these board of directors and understand how things are really connected.

Doug will last as long as Doug wants to last because he is in that network and they are going to take care of their own. He will always be an executive or on the board of directors or a chairman of somewhere.

You would think there are 20 of these guys each. They must clone them or something. I mean how do they find the time to serve on the board of directors for seven companies, as chairmen for two, and a CEO? They must be super human...... or super scammers.

These people are the real mafia.

I mean look at this pasty bastard.

He is so crooked if you threw him away he would come right back.

Why bother stalking a guy who has been gone from AA for almost 17 years? Everyone knew Carty was on the board at Dell starting back in 1992.

Like it or not, Carty was (and probably still is) a brilliant finance guy. He sucked as a leader and CEO, but the discipline and talent he showed for finance was well worth sharing with other companies willing to pay him for guidance, so why not?

If you say so eolesen.

I think you totally missed my point.

Carty....Parker.... does not matter. It's the same circus with different clowns.

Honestly I am disappointed.... I consider you one of the smartest people on this forum.

I remember something with the Dell computers years back.
That's the same area where Parker lives too. Parker spent 12 million for his. This is also the same area where everyone that does a new build outdoes the last guy. I drive by it daily. Some mansions are taking up 4 lots with 2 on one street and 2 on the other with the mansions built wrapping the corner 4 lots. It's just ridiculous how big these houses are.
