The amount your pension is cut if terminated is determined by the PBGC. I am not sure whom you asked but the information they gave you sounds wanting for details.

The PBGC does not recognize “pointâ€￾ system or early out plans and will reduce benefits accordingly. Also if you retired before age 65 you will find your pension penalized.
