Star Alliance Logo Installation

ARLINGTON (theHub.com) - The first Star Alliance logo was applied to a US Airways mainline aircraft last week. The symbol of five curved triangles forming a star was affixed to an Airbus A321 by the Charlotte Line Maintenance group. As part of US Airways’ membership in the world’s largest airline alliance, each of our aircraft will sport the Star logo on both sides of the fuselage behind the aft flight deck windows and the front left and right doors. The installations will be accomplished on overnight visits in 14 Line Maintenance stations.

Maintenance Planning is projecting a completion date for the entire mainline fleet in about 30 days. Brian Shuttleworth of Central Engineering and Kathi Asel of Purchasing coordinated the decal design requirements and the prototype installation. For US Airways Express, the application of decals to the approximately 290 aircraft in the fleet of both wholly owned and affiliated carriers will be completed this summer.

Glad to know they did something good with the money they saved when they laid me off. How many planes did we repaint now? I bet the new logo looks great.

I hear rumors that US is going to put stickers on the back of the fuselage of all their planes that say, "If you can read this, you are flying too close."

For that matter, there should be stickers in every CRJ flight deck over each of the controls to tell J4J pilots how to operate the planes. This would save time over the FO walking the captain through each procedure, and then maybe flights would leave on time or not get cancelled.

All,

The latest from Flt. Ops. is that we will be putting stickers on the cockpit door that read "Our Drivers Carry Less Than $20".

new in aviation daily states that Virgin Atlantic is getting into a significant cooperation with SAA. SAA is joining Star and VA is half-owned by Singapore.
