Quite a few of the jobs created under Trump are "contract" positions - no benefits (including healthcare). How many jobs have been created in Pittsburgh that pay what the steelworkers were paid?
Actually, KC, quite a few . There's the new cracking plant near the airport, steam fitters were screaming they needed 400 welders asap. Massive construction projects in the 'Strip' section downtown, they are building high end condo's and apartments right next to corporate concerns. Lots of union and spin off work here....lots.

"Under Trump".......many of these jobs have come from an economy that has expanded 'Under Trump' with investment and so on. I'd expect you to go Obama on that.

I hope you check out some of these links.

Like many of Pittsburgh’s postindustrial neighborhoods, the Strip District struggled to attract investment for decades after the collapse of the local shipping and manufacturing industries.

Today, with several hundred new apartments underway, companies like Facebook, Apple and Uber jockeying for office space and Smallman Street earning the nickname “Robotics Row,” it’s safe to say that attracting new business is no longer the issue.

On April 10, Oxford Development announced an expansion of their Stacks at 3 Crossings project, which will add 11 acres of mixed-use space to the existing offices along Railroad and Smallman streets. The project will now include approximately 600,000 square feet of office space in six buildings, 300 residential units in two buildings, 50,000 square feet of retail and a multimodal transportation facility on Smallman and Railroad between 28th and 29th streets.

Smith & Nephew, an international medical robotics company, has already signed on as the first tenant.

Pittsburgh is in the middle of a construction boom. With so many development and redevelopment projects popping up all over town, it’s tough to keep track. That’s why the Pittsburgh Business Times created Crane Watch, where we track significant developments planned or under construction in southwestern Pennsylvania.

What’s NEXT for Pittsburgh?

Lots of old warehouse type buildings that once housed manufacturing support for the local mills have been repurposed and now are just about totally occupied by many high end concerns. NASA/DARPA is into robotics here in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon University, Uber located here to do their driverless vehicle research, movie studios, not to mention the healthcare industry which is a continuing expanding project, and there are a lot more.. Apartments with rents starting at $2000....they are getting corporate concerns relocating right into our vibrant social areas, building these living spaces, attracting workers with six digit or better salaries which spin on down to the food and retail industries.Union work in the steelworker wage range has been off the charts here. Even non union work can find you $18 or better without too much trouble. One thing that is an issue, a lot of new work likes to build/relocate outside of Allegheny County due to the politicians going overboard with the corporate shakedown crap. We were going to get a NASCAR track a few years back and the pol's kept demanding this and that, finally they told them to go pound salt and left.
All this vibrant rebirth is great for the area but I'll tell you, it's a major PIA when trying to get around. It's everywhere you go, traffic sucks....LOL
I know you probably aren't real familiar with the area. There is still a stigma of ex steelworkers sitting in bars, crying in their beer......we've moved on. Lotta work here and across the country too.
