Last week, 28-year flight attendant Karen Schooling testified before a Senate panel about her situation. Schooling, who will be laid off on July 2, lost her husband to cancer three years ago, and has since been the sole support of her disabled 17-year-old son, whom she said weighs only 32 pounds, is fed through a tube and needs constant care.
