The huge snowstorm that covered the East Coast led to a nightmare aboard a JetBlue flight as an estimated 200 passengers were stranded for seven hours Saturday at Bradley International Airport with no food, water, or working bathrooms.

The nightmare began when the flight could not land at Newark International Airport after descending low enough for the passengers to see that the visibility was zero. After circling the airport in New Jersey, the plane eventually flew to Bradley and landed before 2 p.m., passengers said.
....

It seems that BDL was swamped with diversions, but seven hours seems extreme. Even there were no available gates, it seems that mobile steps and bus could have been used. Maybe someone from B^ can shed some light?

This scene happened a year or two ago before when an international flight was diverted to bradley and sat for hours while the airport management did nothing,no one with the guts to make a decision.

They need to lose the name international as they are not in the same league as boston, jfk,o'hare and other real international airports.I still call it bradly field, that name fits.

I never use that airport as it has no public transportation and is in the middle of no where.Providence airport is a much better airport to arrive and depart from and has all the service one could ask for.

The plot thickens: http://www.liveatc.net/forums/atcaviation-audio-clips/jet-blue-504-stranded-on-tarmac-for-over-7-hours/

That poor pilot was trying his best. Seems like he was rather frustrated with his company.

It must be nice to make a blanket statement condemning the airport..
For your information, that fiasco was due to the ground handling company that is responsible for diversion for no assigned airline. And guess what, this same company is the one that handles JetBlue...

Funny how no other airline had issues that night.. Just saying

The passengers affected by the weather had three choices:

1. Stay home. Never travel.
2. Buy their own planes.
3. NetJets.com

These weather situations affect a minority of air travellers and they cannot be avoided.

Planes defy gravity. You are taking a chance anytime you board any airplane.

You should be happy you get off the plane alive.

Horrible things have happened to people on airplanes.

Just saying........................
