On a flight from Kentucky to CLT (so, I'm assuming either one of the rj airlines or the US Airways side of the family--the article does not identify the originating airport), a black woman with Platinum status was sent to the back of the airplane though she had purchased F/C upgrades for herself and her white traveling companion. The white companion who was just along for the ride was given a F/C seat. Regardless of who is right, I hope the airline does a Delta and makes restitution to the customer immediately. There's just no way out of this kind of mess--especially since they seated the white traveling companion in F/C.

If your into this kinda thing, racism-chasing bull chit.

AA denies that she upgraded with miles or cash or certs, instead claiming that they were both upgraded for operational reasons when the gate agents rolled the cabins (op-ups, as we passengers call them). Then, their flight cancelled and they were rebooked. Problem was, only one First Class seat on the new flight and they assigned it to the white companion. AA and its apologists claim that there was no way for AA or the computer to know that one of them was white and one was black. Here's Gary Leff's take on it with AA's side of the story:

Here's a now-closed Flyertalk thread discussing it:

I don't know whom to believe.

As it is sometimes regarding divorce cases, there's her side, there's his side and there's the truth.

Something doesn't smell right with this one. I will wait for all info before responding. I think the racism card was played to quickly, but we will see.

Dunno... I'll agree that there was no way the computer singled out someone for being black, but it does leave open the issue of why one person got answers to questions and the other didn't.

The truth will set you free, you haven't found it yet.
Here is some truth for you Dog, when you monetize injustice people are going to make it a point to find it everywhere.

Then you have people that just like to stir things up and watch the show. Right jimntx?
