NBC Evening News reports that the Obama Administration will delay the implementation of the PPACA individual mandate!

If only the Senate had approved the House CR (H.J. RES. 59) and Obama signed the bill on 30 September, they could have avoided the Government shutdown!

The Senate began a 15 minute roll call vote on the Reid motion to table the House Amendment to the Senate Amendment to H.J.Res.59, the continuing resolution. The House Amendment provides a one-year delay in the Affordable Care Act individual mandate; requires Members of Congress, congressional staff, and political appointees (including White House staff) to enroll in the Obamacare exchanges without an employer subsidy for coverage; amends the expiration date of the CR to be December 15, 2013;

Looks like the Republicans were right all along!

Not only was the Federal shutdown the Demorats fault but, also looks like they may be the culprits behind the BaRack-O-Care website fiasco !

About one month before it was set to go live, Demoarats figured it would be better to have people create an account before having access to pricing ( Sticker Shock) and once registered , it would be easier to track you down if you decided BaRack-O-Care was too much !

"He puts the blame on the government, saying: "It appears that one of the reasons for the high concurrent volume at the registration system was a late decision requiring consumers to register for an account before they could browse for insurance products."

"This may have driven higher simultaneous usage of the registration system that wouldn't have occurred if consumers could 'window shop' anonymously!"

Great. Just freaking great. The folks who need the coverage most are getting screwed yet again. Obama and Congress are a bunch of idiots.

I'm not sure where you got this delay of the individual mandate news from?

What I read is that they are only pushing the deadline date for a penalty imposition from Feb 15 out to when the open season ends March 31. The mandate still exists, they are just giving everyone the entire open season to sign up before they would be subject to a penalty.

That makes more sense anyway. Why have the penalty impose dat before the open season end date.

"The Obama administration is working to push back a deadline to prevent people who buy insurance during Obamacare’s open enrollment from being hit by the law’s individual mandate penalty, a Health and Human Services official said Wednesday.
Right now people must to sign up by Feb. 15 if they want to avoid paying the penalty — even though there are six weeks left in the enrollment season."

"An HHS spokeswoman emphasized that it would not impact the timing of the individual mandate taking effect. Nor will it push back the Jan. 1 start date for benefits — when people can begin getting health coverage.

“The individual mandate timing has not changed. The deadline for signing up for insurance is March 31. It was true this a.m. It is true tonight,” said the spokeswoman, Joanne Peters."
