Why we need good written Languge

AMFA had language in their contract when they were representing NWA. You brought your years of experience over and it counted towards pay. So you could have walked in the door at day one with top pay. You only had day of hire for shift bidding and vacation and so on. No other airline or union wants to address this because the company gets experienced workers at basement bargain rates.

Post the language, as no company would agree to bring someone who has never worked for a company and starting them at top pay.

You are making things up.

Here is a link to their CBA, it contains no such language.

It's there because I read it and even spoke to a NWA guy at the time. I have nothing to prove to you since your not a AMT or worked for NWA or AA or represented by AMFA or the TWU. Get a life will you.

Are you sure that wasn't for internal transfers? We had that for other departments at NW, but I don't recall anything about someone coming from off the street and coming in at TOS...

He is wrong Kevin, I just read the whole CBA, a new hire will not be placed at top out on the pay scale, but he would rather just personally attack me, instead of refuting what the CBA states.

Again a set wage for all Nationwide has been and always will be ridiculous. Could you imagine if through Globalization you could transfer to Bangladesh and earn 50 American Dollars per hour?

Making $50 per hour in Brooklyn NY is NOT the same as making $50 per hour in Bowing Green Kentucky.

That's the fact Jack.

I have no problem with higher cost cities making a bit more than those of us who's cost of living is cheaper. BUT, not at the expense of my paycheck and obligations. Let our wonderful negotiators work that out, or have the state/city pitch in (yea right).
I have bills, education loans, kids etc...maybe Jack is single and living it up in NY CITY....No, not at my/our expense!

Don't worry bro I don't think it will fly anyway as long as the Republican Socialists continue to rule and rally against it.

I know, I know I've heard it before.

"If they don't like it they can move"

Wait until a few of them have to bump over to JFK. Ouch man.

I would think that there would be some kind of addition in any agreement that there should be some regional adjustments, due to the cost of living differences. We used to have it in the higher cost cities like NYC; BOS; PHL; SFO; etc. It was 1.00 more per hour. That 160.00 (or more) helps especially if you are in one of those areas, where people who are forced to move to SFO or NYC are really struggling.  (BTW: that COLA was knocked out in our POS agreement.....)  But it should not pit people against each other or taking away from one to subsidize another. That should be a negotiated article.

Agreed. At NW, we had COLA overrides for HNL and ANC negotiated in, and I never heard anyone grumble about it.
