WN Mechanics seek mediation

Driver- since when does seniority make you better than someone? Yeah, Max seems like a piece of work, but don’t forget that AirTran was only bought 8 years ago. Thats not much longer than the 5 years you’re talking down on...
It doesn't make you better, it hopefully makes you wiser. When they bought Morris Air, no seniority. At least Airtran got most of theirs. I just can't stand , when you have people come from other Airlines, and think that they are the only ones that went through hard times, and their bitterness becomes a cancer in our group. We don't have it terrible- I would really like to move on.

AirTran kept all of their seniority. Morris people all have the same because they had to interview for their job. It was a different time/acquisition. I came from other airlines- so I know how bad it can be, and you’re right. It’s not so bad here, but it’s gotten worse, to where those of us who’ve been elsewhere get worried that they’ll follow the same path.
As far as the vote- I’m a no based on economics. We deserve a better base rate, but I’m not under the illusion that we have them with etops, or that they have another offer just waiting. I’ve made it 6 years, what’s another year or two to get what I’m worth? Worst case- it gets voted in and I have to suffer through a $7/hr raise, but I can’t in good conscience vote for this deal knowing what we’re worth (and how we’ve kept this operation humming along), and accept the wages that fall well short of that.

I would like more money too, I am just not willing to go 7 years or more for basically a lost contract, that we will never ever get back. I can take that raise as a lead and increase my 401k, plus pick up overtime, not killing myself. Because I really don't see SWA giving us back pay to April 2018, rejecting their deal. The stores people are finally voting on an offer 16 months After they rejected it. The Teamsters told them, you will vote on this because we will not spend money on mediation for 300 people without a vote. After 16 months they are gaining 5 % on their 20% signing bonus and 3% more in pay. I also know with all this litigation we have done, with no increases in dues money for AMFA, we will soon be running deficits.

I am also voting no. This is not what we waited 6 years for. We have done out part and kept these planes moving through 911 and now through the most profitable years our company has ever seen. We deserve better and I will wait.

I have made my mind up as well. I too will be a NO vote. My No vote is more than just the economics. But I do agree with most here that we do deserve more on the SU and the outgoing years.
WN's is right, what's another year or two after holding out for 6 years on full retro (which it is not at current offer), scope, QOL issues etc...
I also fully support the NC not revealing their next move so the company boys can run into the company offices and tell the co. what they will do next. I fully trust my NC and have faith in them getting what we deserve. BTW; They made it abundantly clear that ETOP's has no leverage or stranglehold on the company so whoever started that one can just stop.
Our materials specialist just received another offer to vote on, 16 months later but increases were added to bonus and pay structures in the amount of 8% total.
So far every group that voted down their first offer all had improvements on the second. Now we wait to vote NO...

Like that is a real shock, all of you were no voters. Most of the people that will vote yes, just don't bother to say anything.

Most of the people I have talked to waited to hear from the committee at the roadshow before deciding how to vote. Unlike you who told us you were ready to vote yes last year even with the scope chages the company wanted.
Real shocker you are still yes to anything the company puts in front of you.

Who are you kidding you AMFA lovers beat the **** out of me , telling me I didn't know what I was talking about we have the company with the ETOPS when I told you we did not. You have brow beat me since day one. Our Union doesn't want a strike vote. If people were serious about leverage the Inspectors wouldn't work all the overtime they do. When the guys were serious at Northwest , the senior guys refused downlines, forcing the junior guys to go. So if this goes down in flames we will just sit and get some more money like stores, after 16 to 18 months. Finally getting the 3% we so desperately seek. I always said I would vote no, on bad scope.

If you will reread your past posts, you will see you aren't the victim you think you are. You have been more of an antagonist, meaning you brought most of it upon yourself.

Man 6 years is brutal. I can't tell you guys what to do but that is almost all the more reason to not accept anything less than full retro at some point a company has to feel the pain of dragging out a contract and taking advantage of the RLA rules. Pilots have gotten full retro and I believe the AIP at UPS for the AMT's also is full retro. But I do understand if guys vote yes for it as is. It is by design to beat everyone down the RLA and NMB suck. Employees always wind up on the losing end of the deal. Glad I only have 8 more years I am sorry I ever got my A@P.

Whats the ratio of high time guys versus low timers at SW ? At UAL we got stuck with this last contract because all the low time graveyard guys voted yes and they out number the 30 year plus guys who voted no.

The number I heard was approx. 85% of mechanics are topped out.

I don’t get why you are so defensive, I thought you didn’t care how others voted? I wasn’t a no vote right away, I don’t vote based on how people tell me to vote. In the beginning I was undecided, but leaning yes because I want an end to all of this. After reading everything and doing the math, they’re shorting us, and to add salt to the wound- AA is offering their mechanics about $3-$4/hr more! The company could’ve gotten out in front of it and immediately revised their numbers, and that would’ve changed the vote numbers dramatically; but they’re looking for the 50% +1, not for it to overwhelmingly pass.

Crowsfoot go right ahead, anytime I question the Union or the delays or whatever. The attack began.

It is always that way, it doesn't matter what Union you have, it is the norm in the industry. Some Unions are better than others trying to keep your stuff.

I am not defensive to you, no offense intended. I just do not like being beat up , because I just want to move on. Will they make up 30k more on my signing bonus if we go as long as stores did. Like I said most people that will vote for this , just do not post on social media. They said it wouldn't pass in 2008, and it did. It wasn't overwhelmingly, but it still passed.
