Is TAESL shutting its doors in 30 days?

That's not "unfair".  The people at AFW sat at their overhaul station with the week of Christmas off, holidays off, days and afternoons, etc.  while the line employees worked as line employees, holidays, night shift, out side, etc.  And then the AFW guys wanted different rules than everyone else...

Is TAESL shutting its doors in 30 days?

I've been through 30 years worth of lay offs, and just now with the AFW lay off is the first time I have ever heard people say they should be able to pick any station with a lower senior mechanic.  Why should they get special treatment when us at the line stations have lived with these rules for...

    Bye bye Tulsa

It's an easy commute home to family and no state taxes/cost of living. Most people who need to bump are in survival mode so DFW has the best survival atmosphere.

    American Maintenance Stations

A few guys transitioning? Our industry has been dumping mechanics for a decade. Career AA guys have been insulated up until the last year. Uncle Sam selected my career for me. I was drafted and assigned a job. When I got out, I worked contract maintenance. I have good friends who are...

    American Maintenance Stations

Bob, you're the union head and buddies with all the other line union heads. So why ask me? There is one that I haven't seen around in a while but we hired in together. John Judge signed a letter waiving his license.

    American Maintenance Stations

How exactly does working contract maintenance means a fellow mechanic has zero self respect? Lots of people need jobs. Most airlines have dumped thousands of mechanics off their payrolls. I have worked beside several of them on field trips. Even worked with a layed off United mechanic...

    American Maintenance Stations

Attachment 11.6 of the agreement states they can work cabin interiors on the docs. And unlicensed mechanics have and still do work aircraft in line stations. There was an older guy named Rudy who worked avionics, who hired in without license and never obtained one. Died a few years back. But...

    Three 13 hour Shifts

By our current local agreement, days and afternoons would be able to double. Midnights cannot double with a 10 hour shift. You would log onto staff admin and put in for the days you will work and your partners shift. Management doesnt get involved unless there is a problem (ie someone doesnt...

    American Maintenance Stations

Very, very few. The ones I know about were grandfathered decades ago or they lost their license and a deal was cut to let them do support work like ladders and bikes. But there is talk of SRP (or whatever they are calling them in this contract) doing interiors on B cks and I cks.

    American Maintenance Stations

ELP has been contract maintenance since they pulled mechanics in the early 90s. El Paso was a STATION protected (not system protected) station. They cut a deal with the mechanics, gave em some pocket change to move to DFW. One stayed in ELP as a ground service mechanic who cross utilized as a...

    AMFA/teamsters Senoirity Integration

I agree. Just go by classification/occupational DOH and be done with it. Anything else will be a mess. Just like the one we created with TWA. The date you rolled your box onto the hangar floor and started turning wrenches, thats your date.

    American Maintenance Stations

Class 1 stations do B-cks and have inspectors and Avionics. They run 24/7 Class 2 stations do up to A-cks and can be midnights only or 24/7. The class 3 and 4 I am not sure of anymore but I believe class 3 means oncall maintenance. Class 1 stations as of today are DFW, JFK (maybe LGA but not...

    Just as I predicted

My prediction is 2 years from now it won't be AA mechanics complaining about the company suit. Mechanics will be outsourced like our building cleaners. We won't even remember how it happened or who was in change of the company, but we will still remember all the name calling and grudges...

    Just as I predicted

How many years out of BK are you guys? Still only cents above us. But because Parker gave us a little kiss before he bends us over, we are in love. Just incredible.

    Just as I predicted

Mechanics looking at Parker as a savior is beyond belief. How much outsourcing does USAir do? Aren't their mechanics at the bottom pay wise right with us? Yet somehow he is supposed to make us happy mechanics?
