    757 Economics

CO's 757's are all RR powered. They are acquiring the remaining 757-300's that used to belong to ATA. All 757-300's were RR powered. Shortly before I joined ATA in 1998 they sold most, if not all, their P&W powered 757's to Delta. The reason I was given is that they had reliability problems...

    Airline Consolidation

Is this the same Vaughn Cordle (dob: 2/3/1955) that is on the master SCAB list? If so why does one voluntarily engage him in conversation or share the same oxygen in a room with him? Inputs from SCABS are simply not worthy of discussion. Ride

Alpa Ta This Weekend (?), Ed. By Mod To Reflect St

I don't think the MEC would be exercising their due dilligence if they presented an agreement to the membership that they felt was negotiated in bad faith. The turbulence report just went from severe to extreme. Good luck. Ride

Festival? To Buy North American Airlines?

Maybe instead of Festival it was Festivus, you know, the airline for the rest of us.

    Ata To Europe?

Why not use MDW as the European gateway for 757 service, just need to tech stop YQX or BGR on the way to the continent For an east coast Gateway I like EWR. Lots of O&D and apparently some gate availability now that ATA has dropped the SFO-EWR flights.

Fewer American Airlines Pilots To Lose Jobs

So how many more to be furloughed after Jan. 1 if using the 2,458 number. Just curious as I have a buddy who said that he would be about 250 from the bottom by the beginning of 2004. Thanks in advance for your reply. Ride

    Ata

There are no pensions at ATA. There can be no shortfall for something that does not exist. It is true that some notes need to be restructured. It is really in everybody's best interest to get this done outside of Chap. 11.

    Ata

Yes ATA Airlines has two types of reserve lines, long call (12 hour) and short call (2 hour). A short call line gets you 14 days off per month and a long call results in a minimum of 12 days off. Both types are guaranteed at 75 hours. Flying lines are also guaranteed at 75 hours with a...

    Pilot Head Count/Furloughs

The recent ALPA Code-a-Phone indicated that UAL management has come up with a business plan that will require approx. 7500 total pilots on the seniority list as of Jul 2004. Just wondering what the current head count is and how many pilots will be furloghed over the course of the next year...

    John Tague

John Tague seems to be an OK guy to have around when times are good and you are in a rapid growth mode as ATA was in the late 90''s. His niche is marketing and numbers. He has been fired twice from ATA (once in the mid 90''s as an exec VP)and was at the helm during the demises of the original...

ATA into PIT - Announcement Monday

ATA will make it work because of all their connection possibilities in MDW, AirTran had but one to ATL. This includes the mainline markets west of Chicago and the communities served by C8 in the midwest.

The future airline industry from a furloughed pilot''s point of view.

Mr Mustang' Finally a cogent discussion on how to fix some of the ills at United and the other legacy carriers. Trying to reinvent yourself into a LCC is not a long term solution to the current woes. Right now there is simply too much capacity for the demand and constant pricing wars are not...

    Furloughs at the majors

The 123 furloughs shown for ATA are not pilot furloughs, but rather a loss of PFE positions due to the elimination of the B-727 and drawdown of the L-1011. ATA is in fact actively interviewing and hiring pilots as it continues to acquire new equipment.
