I imagine that a lot of code share expansion could be on hold pending the outcome of US' efforts to merge with AA. It doesn't make sense to establish new codeshares that might only be in effect for a year if US winds up in OneWorld.
I've had 3 AC flights in the last 2 months and was very...
I am happy that US is a member of Star Alliance. From my perspective as a passenger, I like my choices of flying primarily on US, but having the option of choosing UA for some of my flights. I don't see what benefit US passengers in the Seattle area would gain by having US in Oneworld.
I think the other airlines should follow WN's lead on this issue. I once sat next to an oversized guy on an Alaska Airlines flight from HNL to SEA. While the armrest was down, his right leg encroached significantly into my leg space. I did not enjoy the flight.
If I were in charge of the US...
Hope would know better than I do, but the time we flew EWR-PHX it seemed like most passengers were doing connections. If this is the case EWR-PHX could still have decent loads. I guess the other option would be to code-share on UA/CO flights for connecting passengers.
The comments on this thread are strictly about US' reliance on fees. The other legacy carriers have the same dependence on fees. I tried to measure fees vs net income for Delta, AMR and UA/CO.
One report said that Delta had $1.3 billion in fee income for 9 months. Their net income for 9...
US offers LAX to SFO service on United via codeshares. It wouldn't make sense to compete with a fellow STAR carrier, as well as a number of other carriers, on a route like this. US needs to maximize the potential of the alliance by taking UA/CO passengers to destinations that those carriers...
