    Jetblue's Profit Falls

Actually I was listening and people were impressed by the control of costs (too bad no one can control fuel). Also sounds like the engine deal is a good one. Transcon fares doing better too, enough to make some difference. $65 oil is a tough wall to climb for anyone though. Boston doing well...

    Jetblue Plane Catches Fire

Probably more to reassure/thank employees than to hold pax hands. You know that the usual suspects will be all over them on maintenance questions, so it would be interesting to know the cycles on the engine/frame and date of last check. If it was a recent delivery it will be largely covered by...

Delta In Chapter 11 By Sept '05

I think the effective date for the new, tougher corprate bankruptcy rule is the 17th of October (don't ask me why--probably a certain number of days after the signing of the bill or its publication in the federal register). Apparently Grinstein sent a new message to employees today that sounds a...

Anybody Heard The Dl Merger Rumor?

I'm pretty sure that the NWA rights to China from NRT are tied o NRT--from the Chinese end, its the JAPANESE govt that "elects" thanks to the good guys winning WWII to have NWA fly them. NWA could NOT fly LAX-Shanghai since that would come under the US-Sino bilateral.

What New Routes From Dfw / Post Wright

And where will the new guys get gates from?

    Jetblue To Begin Ewr

I think the point that JBLU is not starting any transcons being a sign of caution on B6's part is a good one. Mileage matters more there, and they proved with AWA (now out of the transcon market) that they were willing to endure a brutal flight.

    Miami Herald Article: B6 "soon"

They might be holding off to see what develops in the FLL/FAA catfight. But with 5 more flights to FLL from EWR, and CAL also increasing FLL in response, somethins gotta give. I think movin to MIA for some flights out of every airport makes sense.

    Jetblue To Begin Ewr

As I also mentioned on the CO forum, Barger (COO and I think Pres of B6) ran EWR for CO before going to Jetblue, so knows what he's getting into, as much as anyone in this crazy business.

    Huge Capacity Expansion Into Florida

You may remember that Dave Barger ran EWR for CO before becoming Pres and COO of B6. So maybe he knows what he's doing.

    Pit Is Disappointing ?

Also on the webcast Kelly said Pittsburgh was well above their expectations.

    Jetblue To Begin Ewr

U85 you are right and I'm wrong about Song at EWR--not only is it only 2 flights, they end soon if not already to allow JFK-SFO. As for a substitute for LGA, Worldtraveler, I think that there the goal was purely to hit Song. But the EWR mkt is a totally seperate mkt (almost) from JFK--B6 says...

    Jetblue To Begin Ewr

Song flies out of EWR to Florida. Like LaGuardia, this is aimed at giving Song no place to hide, and CO is just incidental, I'd guess. The fares run $30-40 higher at EWR on average. And its a completely different customer base. Only a few people have the time and patience to schlep to JFK...

    Will Oil Hit $70

Dennis could get it to $70 fast. But if not, Opec seems to be running an experiment to see where the break point for the global economy is. If it isn't $60, then they'll make a run at 70. By the way, more businesses are hurt by high oil than helped. If businesses got to set the oil price, it...

    Aa And Pensions

So the whole reason for the p.r. about the $75 mm was because of the staged hoopla for the Congressional mau-mauing, to use Tom Wolfe's expression.

    Jetblue Will Try Anything

My understanding is that this exemption was asked for by the pilots, not management-or is that just spin?
