TO: THE MEMBERSHIP AT UAL AFFILIATED WITH DISTRICT 141-M
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
On Thursday, at informal discussions with United Airlines Representatives, they once again stated their need for major changes to our Scope language.
These changes include the closing of maintenance facilities, the right to furlough employees with greater than 1994 seniority, and the right to farm out work, even if those farm outs cause furlough of employees.
Also, they again restated that future pensions need to be reduced and added costs to the employees for health benefits.
The week of February 10th we are scheduled to resume formal discussions on these and other issues
Your Committee’s goal is to minimize the impact these proposals have on each of us and to protect the language that we have all sacrificed through the years to attain. But while we struggle with these issues each of us should not lose sight and focus of the fact that United Airlines is in bankruptcy and we are fighting for our very survival. You will be advised of any new developments.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Scotty Ford
President and Directing General Chairman
