Tsunami warnings up and down the the coast on several continents.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- A powerful magnitude-8.2 earthquake struck off Chile's northern coast Tuesday night, causing landslides and setting off a tsunami that forced an evacuation of coastal areas. There were no immediate reports of injuries or major damage, but buildings shook in nearby Peru and in Bolivia's high altitude capital of La Paz.

Received this below in an email, from the Japan Tsunami a few years ago, dash cam footage found in the debris.
It's quite scary.

Thanks for the post, Dell. That video is incredible! I know we probably have at least 1 crew laying over in Santiago tonight. And, in other locations nearby--like La Paz, Bolivia.

Scary video indeed.  Guess the best bet would have been to bail out of the car and climb on top of the tanker.  Of course that's easy to say when your typing from the comfort of your living room.

A bit closer to home.

I thought I caught in passing on the news some light seismic activity when the slide happened.

Combination steep/unstable sloop along with an above average rain fall for the prior thirty days are the main culprit.

The light seismic activity recorded was the actual slide.
