A&e's New Series Airline

That looks great! Can't wait to see the whole show. I'm sure these boards will light up with people chiming in about how it relates to their own daily experience(s).

At one of the quarterly meetings for our department, we were fortunate enough to see about a 5 minute promo with a lot of the highlights of the show. Parts of it were HILARIOUS with some of the antics that some of the Pax were doing (like the lady putting on her makeup and changing in the middle of the gate area!). Looks like it'll be a good show. It does show a lot of the good things we do at SWA as well as a few of the inevitable bad days. Can't wait to start taping it!

The ladies going, "I'll sue you" and "if I have to buy him a ticket its going to send me over the edge".. hillarious.. definitely don't miss being in customer service..

lol

I wonder if it will show any mechanics during the day.

"Oh, by the way..."

From what I have heard about this series, it was more about the airline and it's dealings with customers. Mechanics and provisioning agents don't have all that much public contact.

I saw the show(s) last Monday on A&E and have to say I cringed at most of the stuff shown.

Does anyone know how much input or say WN had in influencing the presentation? For a 19 year airline employee I did not see this as a positive for WN. The case involving the lap child that was suspect on being >2 years old was particularly disturbing. IMO, the agent was confrontational and could have presented the final option earlier than at the last minute and saved hard feelings by the family. Of course with edits who knows how this actually happened but still do not think this was the best face.

Hate to wallow in anyones pain but this show, to me, shows there really is no difference in a LCC versus a Legacy carrier. The same problems abound at each. Airline travel is hectic and tiresome no matter what name is on the side of the plane.

Incorrect. The age in question was 18 months, NOT 2 years. And to me the kid definitely looked older than 18 months.
What amazed me was that the parents were traveling without ANY ID for the kid! I thought that nowadays all passengers, kids included, had to show ID to get through the TSA gauntlet!

Children are not required to have ID. 18 months or 24 months the argument could have been avoided if the agent had advised the parent that they could get a refund if they presented ID after the flight. Do you mean that a new born baby should have ID? Passport? Perhaps baby fingerprints would work, since most babies tend to look alike <_<

As a result the only thing that was accomplished by the argument with the parents was yelling by the parents to the other passengers about the WN policy. Ill will between the pax and WN and not so flattering coverage.

Why did the agent not present the "solution" first instead of making the parents call the hospital for age verification?????????

Do you think those pax mention WN in glowing terms to their friends. Just proves that WN is very similar to the other carriers.

Well as a BIG FAN of the Discovery Wings British version, I think the A&E show looks good so far. There will be times when you (WN employees) will cringe, but that's ok. Just remember you're getting one heck of a marketing promotion from this. And if your management uses it properly, WN will look good no matter what.

I can't wait to continue to watch the rest of the episodes.

Just pointing out that you were wrong as to the age that was being questioned in the show.
And , no, I don't "mean' anything. I simply thought that it was a TSA requirement that ALL passengers show ID to be allowed through security. What is the minimum age, if this is not the case?
As far as 'baby ID', perhaps you've heard of a document called a birth certificate?

Maybe I as the only one who caught this, but as the husband of the child was making as ass out of himself, when the SWA agent said that they would get a refund after the flight by presenting proof, and the smart assed wife said that if they had said that in the first place, the could have avoided this problem, the agent replied "I tried, but your husband wouldn't let me finish a sentence".

AS far as showing problems - yep, thats the goal. I mean, how entertaining is television where the passenger is handed a boarding card and told to have a nice flight and the passenger says "Thank you"? If anything, it might let the world see that making an ass out of yourself might feel good at the time, but it usually does nothing to alleviate your problem. And they might actually take some of that to heart next time they travel...regardless of the airline.
