AA suits and RW suits in Brickyard kingdom this week end, AA/RW playing golf. F9 BK was part of the small talk with WN a side bar. The crystal ball is showning RW/AA 50/50 with RW operation being regionals and AA the main line. RW venture with VX will be E190, Q400 and AA will be retaining the AB and gates at F9 cities.

A few reality checks. AA doesnt have the money or time to waste on that venture. AA doesnt need or want any more scare bus AC. AA isnt going to go in to DEN with UAL on top and SWA looking to build its low fare presence.

heard this at SFO yesterday as well...no saying there is any truth..
just sayen...

Sounds great, but there are three flies in the ointment here --- APA, APFA, and TWU. If AA starts investing in a JV with an outsourcer, somehow I don't see any of those guys signing off.

I doubt you'd see any bid involving AMR. Frankly, they could also replicate the DEN operation overnight if they wanted to.

As the most cash rich airline in the industry, AA has enough money to buy Frontier about 8 to 10 times over.

A purchase of F9 would be an excellent way to acquire cheap Airbus equipment to replace the guzzling MD80s. AA could easily dismantle the DEN network. DEN is overserved, anyway.

Something such as this that defies any measure of common sense is right up the AMR board's alley. It may well be a way to burn cash faster and run afoul of more financing covenants if even partially true.

Could be Repugnant looking for a home for some 170/190's if WN trumps their bid for F9?

That'll go over well with the APA...

That's a joke right?

No, it's not.

It is an excellent way to acquire cheap A319s, place them in the fleet temporarily, retire MD80s quicker and eventually phase the A319s out as more 738s arrive.

<_< ---- Be careful of what you wish for!!!!--------From someone who knows! 😉

Planes from Frontier, come with Frontier pilots. APA is not going to put there people on the street and AA is not going to take on the training expense. They are smaller than the MD80's. If they were only half the maintenance nightmare the last fleet of airbus planes were, it would still be too much.

I'm with you, Mikey. Another AC type, even if temporary, isn't what AA wants or needs. And as long as fuel isn't too high, the 80's are better than they look. The new 737's may burn less, but I'd like to see a comparison of the leasing cost of an 80 as opposed to a new 737.

I was just wondering about the three flies in the ointment ---APA, APFA, and TWU. If AMR Board and RJET Board did something similar to TPG and NWA joint venture with Midwest, for the RW/XV and F9. Then APA, APFA, and TWU might not be the three flies in the ointment. AMR still would have their negotiations with their unions to deal with.

AA could do code-share with F9 and XV with RW controlling the operations.

I haven't heard of allot of open gates for lease at DEN.

What you would save in fuel would not be worth the cost of a merger.

I will say this.....something is in the works...be it the BA/AA/IB hook up or even rumors for a USAirways merger......They're not just dragging their feet in contract talks with the the three unions just because they don't wish to give us anything.
I believe that a merger or acquisition or the OneWorld deal will have an effect or will effect contract negotiations due to work rules, etc.
