What's new

AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Agressive Reserve has nothing to do with being on quick call. So many people are saying its the new quick call. Being an Agressive Reserve takes you to the top of the list for reserve processing with daily scheduling instead of the proposed inverse order of processing daily trips. Example:Your RAP starts at 6am. Ends at 6pm. You notice a nice trip going out at 3pm....you can call sched and make youself Agressive and get the trip if nobody senior to you has gone Agressive as well.

Yes, you can, but the bad part is that being an agressive reserve does nothing in helping you to "time out" for the month. So if your like me and just want to get it over with as quickly as possible, so what!

So. What happened at the meeting. The board is suddenly quiet...its been the meeting this and the meeting that, now the only thing happening is crickets.

Nobody cares to talk about it anymore. Just vote when it comes time. I'll sure as hell vote NO but everyone is free to do what they want. I'll say this, "There are A LOT of reserves that will quit if this new reserve language is voted in." As the economy recovers people WILL leave which will then leave those senior being JUNIOR. Vote with everyone in mind people...not just yourself as historically done. 😉

I'm just going to say I am flat out DISGUSTED with the proposals, the reserve T/A, the trade one concession for another the union and mgt have done in this process, but most of all, the
SELF SERVING, ambivalent, uninvolved, gossipy, kool-aid-drinking, smack talking, condescending, "it doesn't affect me" attitudes of the few who seem to have the biggest mouths. They don't show up to meetings then run their mouths on the jumpseats about what they heard this and what they know that. It further spreads poison and misinformation and ultimately helps lead to throwing your fellow crewmembers under the bus.
If every one of you don't vote NO to the garbage that's about to be put before us for a vote, you are fools. Each "improvement" is a mere parity to the other workgroup an example is proposed days off for RSVS. We're merely getting bumped to West days off. It's nice, but we ALL deserve better than both garbage contracts than we both have been forced to endure the past several years.
I'm done here. My vote is NO. You'd be wise to educate yourselves on all the flexibility that is going away with the "at company discrection, in narrow circimstances, when both parties mutually agree" language and PBS.
Better wise up or plan on taking it for the next 5-10 years.
And SHAME on the ones who are running around out there blabbing mistruths but didn't even bother to show up at the meetings. SHAME.

Well, I do vote with myself in mind. And I always have on my mind that I could very easily be back on reserve. That's why this section is so important.

That's why I didn't vote yes for that last pos. But I was probably one of the few blockholders that even glanced at the reserve section.

I believe that is the point. They feel that their interests are indeed not being represented by the negotiators. My friend say that when questions are asked that Mr. Flores gets combative over things that should only require yes, no answers. When Carol bothers to show up at meetings she always says that she does not have anything to do with this or that. The secrets that have made there way to the public have come by the way of the west. When asked about those things Mr. Flores puts on his cloaking device and says this info can't be shared with the members. I got news for you, it already has and you are making it worse by not explaining it to your members properly. If I were in your shoes I would find it hard to believe much of what comes out of their mouth.

I also think that we read in one of these threads that they can be recalled for any reason. Fair or not, that is what is in your bylaws. I would think that your MEC president would be aware of this. I think if they want to save their jobs they have so explaining to do in regards to your contract.

Those of us with the ability to understand compound sentences have had no trouble understanding Mr. Flores and Mrs. Austin. There are a lot of issues that can't be answered by the words "yes" or "no".

BTW, Mrs. Austin bothers to show up for scheduling, contract negotiations, and all her other service to you ingrates. Did it ever occur to anyone that certain people out there have a very self-serving interest in removing Mike and Carol? That they don't care how vicious their lies are, or how much the controversy they're manufacturing helps the company's position? The big issues are coming up, folks. Don't lose sight of the goal. Don't believe the lies.

Same old same old at the first meeting. People who care only about reserve and nothing else in the contract were there to squawk and disrupt. A lot of us are getting disgusted with their antics. We want a contract! This isn't the 90s anymore! Get real. We want a contract that covers all of us. Will it be perfect? No. Do you expect perfection? Can you do a better job? Please step forward and tell us how, and please do not speak in "bumper sticker".

It is PAINFULLY clear that you have some sort of relationship with our JNC, have stockholm syndrome, or are completely dismissive of the group at large. Don't throw out blanket statements that reserves who came to the meeting "care only about reserve and nothing else." In fact, the ones who showed up, I dare say are keenly aware to the fact that EVERY section matters to the group, especially SCOPE which wasn't even mentioned.

You're right, it's not "the 90's" anymore... we are living in a 2010 world with 2010 prices and a 2010 inflation rate and 2010 bills under a BANKRUPTCY contract and a PROPOSAL that is so concessionary that it's a joke. When you start having some compassion to "the rest of us" and get off that high horse, newbie we might take your position more seriously. "Please do not speak in bumper sticker?!?!?!" Grow up. Nice of you to join the day after the meeting, and REAL nice of you to refer to MF and CA as Mr. and Mrs. Indeed, they are.

Sketch, sketch, sketch.

It is not that we don't care about other sections of the contract, it is that the Reserve TA is a deal breaker for us. Getting a contract that works for everybody without tossing anybody under the Swoosh Bus iis the goal. No matter how loud we scream. No matter how many e-mails we send. No matter how many meetings we attend, if the Block Holders do not backup the Reserves on the Reserve TA, then they will be running us over in their Swoosh Bus to get what they want.

We may never have another opportunity to fix this broken reserve system like the opportunity we have in front of us now.

I am afraid that I do not get the point of the statement. She is paid to do these things. She does have the option to return to the line and fly under the loop-hole-riddled contracts she negociates. In fact, I would be very grateful if she did.

In fact, she shows up when she feels like it. Until yesterday, I don't recall the last meeting she came to in PHL, or DCA, for that matter.
And BTW, yourself, for 108 hours of international pay, PBGC, and an AFA expense account, if not for the GOOD IN HER HEART and undying committment to ALL flight attendants, she damn well ought to.
