AFA labor discussion (Work related)

And just where do you think those people are going to come from? The LEC's. Back to square one. You aren't going to elect anyone...that's up to the LEC's. Our LEC's are the ones who choose.....that's their job.....Am I ringing your bell yet?

That seems to be one of those issues that need to be addressed. Your membership should certainly be deciding your leaders though direct voting. Too much room for back door deals with these local leaders deciding who is best for the job.

No, I'm not saying Mike and Carol are the only ones out there that can do the job.

Good. Didn't think you were. That would be ludicrous.

[quote/] But what I am saying is there is no point in changing horses in the middle of the stream either.
I disagree. I think there is every point in changing, midstream. Sends a pretty clear message to the Company that since we have been working at the very bottom of the pay/ work rules scale in the industry since 2001, we deserve improvements to our current decimated working agreement, not further concessions, which is what is being negotiated.

I feel the Company and JNC (working together... ringing any alarm bells yet??), are thinking they are going to push this substandard TA through with a pay raise, and they may very well be right. Just remember, once we agree to the FURTHER concessions being proposed (sick days, cleaning, reserve, VAC, Holiday Restriction, for examples that we know of!), we are not getting those back.

Also, remember that the JNC has told us many times that Pref Bid is a "HUGE money saver" for the Company as well, so can that be considered concessionary?

[quote/]And that's why the LEC's voted the way they did.
I don't know about that...

[quote/] We're on the back side of this negotiation. If it had been so important....we would have pulled them 4 years ago.
I didn't know that our JNC was actively negotiating MORE concessions for us 4 years ago. Did you?

Me either!. My God like fox in the hen house.

I don't have to elaborate about thinking.....that's up to you.

The LEC's are the root of the problem. That is why they need to be replaced. They have allowed the MEC President to dictate, threaten, bamboozle and coerce them. They are all afraid of their shadows and couldnt make a decision without consulting with the MEC office. If the LEC's were capable of doing their job they would have recalled these negotiators without being directed by their members. That is the reason you will find different names in those positions sooner than later. Then it will be a simple meeting of the MEC to recall the negotiators. Too much power in the LEC's for so little competence. JM, better hold off that CLT transfer. AC may be looking for work soon after the rerun and all promises to work in the CLT office may be off the table. Best bet is to get back to the old routine, recurrent training and all. AM I RINGING YOUR BELL YET?

Hello..

Is this forum for US fa's only? I'm an fa with another AL and have an interview coming up with US. Really excited about it and just have a quick question about the proposed TA.. Does anyone know the specific numbers being offered as to the days off per month and the new guarantee?

If I'm chosen next week, being lowest on the totem pole I would expect reseve to be tough. It's hard starting over, I really don't know enough about your present working conditions to understand the other aspects of the contract. But those 2 issues I'd be most worried about as a commuter. Thanks.....

Current guarantee is 73 hours with 11 days off a month. The new items are not definitive. You can earn above your guarantee I'd you pick up trips from the electronic trade board.
Good luck with your interview. Where are they conducting it?

A number of signatures were invalid. They were either duplicates or they weren't in good standing. That's what the verification process is all about. As it should be.

My flybynite.....AFA verified signatures by comparasion of signatures on file. Please how many people can actually say their signatures match the signatures from when they were hired. If that is how they want to do it fine, but they need to update the signatures that they have on file. My signature is not even close to what is was 30 years ago.

And yes, they could have thrown their block of votes for recall but they decided not to for a reason. All three LEC's voted their block of votes against recall. Something to think about.

Yes what everyone needs to think about is recalling their LEC's for that decision.

And if a recall had passed, what do think would happen? Who would be in charge of our negotiations? Would our negotiations break down?(maybe) be delayed?(yes) play into the company's hands?(yes) IMO.

Hate to bust your bubble, but their are people that can do a much better job of negotiating for us. And ones that would not be rubbing elbows with the company.

Just a few things to think about. Would anything change for those items that have been agreed to? No, I can assure you, the company will not revisit those items. If you don't like the contract vote it down. That's your choice.

Do not ever say that they would never revist those items. This contract is a joke and if and when it is voted down they will have to go in a revisit them. Don't forget that we are currently under a contract that is not amendable until Dec 2011 so we do not have to settle for anything less. We should not and will not accept a concessionary contract.

So while it appears that you support the contract that is currently being negotiated when do you plan on coming back on line and flying under it. Oh I forgot you do not even fly under the one that we currently have. Well get ready because you are going to be flying under it soon or you will either retire, quit or go work in a management position, but seriously doubt you will actually come back out on line.

As far as ringing someone's bell. Everyone who is holding a LEC or a MEC postion should be prepared because all of your bells are going to be ringing soon. New elections coming up for PHL and for CLT.

Thank you! I have several friends interviewing in CLT tomorrow. I've heard someone else mention PHX on the 2nd. My date is the 7th but I've not received my email of the location yet. A friend who made it yesterday was invited to a Jan 24th training class. Their hiring process is great, moving pretty quickly..

The thing about picking up from EBT is usually has to be done on an off day. I commute ATL-GRR now so I'm usually glad to go home on off days. It would be great if I could pick up from Blockholders on reserve days... But anywho! I know I have to get my foot in the door 1st just curious. Thanks for your response!

Don't you worry about that Michelle. You'll soon see as a new hire reserve that you WILL pick up trips from blockholders on reserve days. It will just be against your will when you are covering a 'commuters' trip when they can't make it in in bad weather because many don't plan accordingly. Seriously, change is good for many and you'll read a lot of negative stuff on here but if it's change you want and are ready for it I say, 'Welcome Aboard'. It certainly will be nice to see fresh, smiling and YOUNG faces around here. Good luck with your interview.

Thanks!! Ok this is wonderful.. I prefer more work on reserve days, otherwise I'm just collecting dust around the hotel room at base lol. I don't mind the small negative stuff here, I think all crewmembers complain. Why do we do it? I tried leaving, going back to work in court, and found out I missed flying. So I've been at a few AL's they're all the same with minor differences. Thanks for the well wishes, will let you how it turns out!

Good luck with the contract, and getting what you need! B)

Did the company tell your friend when they expect them to come on line - after traning is complete?
We heard that the first training class is Jan 9th but excited about seeing new faces!!

From what I've heard, Training is 6 weeks in PHX. Maybe 5 weeks. So couple that with OE (just curious, are you required to do OE on all types or just one type with some differences thrown in there?) and you should see new faces in March sometime I guess? I think the Jan 9 class might be for those coming off the Voluntary furloughs, back as new hires?

I think something was mentioned of ?5 moving days prior to coming online but really nothing more specific. Yea and I don't know if that was before or after OE. ? I do think the Jan 9th class is for previously furloughed..

It will just be ssooooo nice to get to a WARM base!
