Don't mean to make light of the situation, but that headline cracked me up. I've often wondered what my reaction would be if I were in a similar situation. As flight attendants we train for these things, but it's one thing for an instructor over to the side of the class says "Suddenly the airplane begins a rapid descent" and the trainees go through their emergency procedures. It's another thing entirely to experience a rapid descent like this one.
FYI: This is same airline where a pilot told passenger to pray after a mechanical problem developed.
